Scarface – Homies & Thugs (feat. 2Pac & Master P)

Scarface’s Homies & Thugs got three of the coldest OGs in the game on one track, with 2Pac and Master P pulling up alongside the H Town legend for some straight gutter music. This one’s for the hustlers, the riders and everybody who came up where making it through another day ain’t guaranteed.

Scarface spits that raw street knowledge, Master P comes through with that No Limit boss talk and 2Pac brings that fire he’s always been known for. It’s about keeping your circle tight, stacking your paper, staying ten toes down and never switching up on the ones who held you down when you ain’t had nothing.

Scarface was already a certified Houston legend when this first dropped, putting in work with the Geto Boys before making major moves on his own. Master P was running the game out of New Orleans, turning No Limit into a whole empire off independent hustle and street credibility. And Pac? He’d already stamped his name in hip hop history before his passing in 1996.

Having three hip hop legends on Homies & Thugs was a serious linkup, bringing that H Town grit, New Orleans hustle and West Coast thug mentality together. Everybody came from their own corner of the game, but the message was the same: get yours, protect your people and don’t ever forget the block that raised you.

Homies & Thugs dropped in March 1998 on Scarface’s double album My Homies. Mike Dean and N.O. Joe handled the production on the original cut, with Scarface himself producing a separate remix that also appeared on the album. My Homies went all the way to No. 4 on the Billboard 200, proving Scarface could bring the streets together and still move serious numbers.

Homies & Thugs is that real deal 90s gangsta rap, three heavy hitters talking that street talk over a beat made for riding through the hood with the system knocking.
