im not suprised but im also sad because even with veilgaurd Bioware made some really good and interesting games
400 million for games with zero creativity accompanied by HR/therapy writing in stories that are equally bad is hardly just a BioWare issue, and that is why the industry is in such a bad state. Games with lower budgets that take more risks and make HR uncomfortable are far more likely to find success. They may still only sell 1.5 million, but that stings far less when you dont waste so much making the game
There seems to be a magic timer when it comes to studios that are either newly assembled, or have released flops. 2-3 years, enough time to work up a presentable slice to show the folks who pay the bills. If they don't buy in the studio is slashed or shuttered. You can see this pattern with Bungie, 343i/Halo studios, Rocksteady and many others.
And here we are, almost two years to the week that Veilguard came out, and Bioware has been laid to rest. It makes me wonder, was this just corporate cost cutting, or did the Saudis come in and see pansexual aliens and geth talking abou their feelings? We may never know, but I hope the rotting corpse of ME stays burried and at rest. At least we got the Legendary edition to carry the good parts forward.
who cares about BioWare… RIP Sims <3
Atleast we still have ME 1,2,3 Andromeda.
Don't celebrate? I more than likely would despise all the people who got laid off.
Yea but EA meddled so hard in Vailguard that it was doomed, the game was restarted 3 times. Forced them to work on a live service game. An RPG developer. Its why most biowear developers left to join Fate of the old republic.
Every exec has seen the success of Marvel and wants a piece of it for their games, even now. 'Fun and bright,' was relentlessly pushed onto the devs who had already lost key members of the team. Fun and bright. For dragon age. The effect Marvel has had on the video games industry, honestly…
10:35 wolverine was made exclusively for the MCU crowd after the leaks. That's why it was so bad since it was so western playstation interactive cinema formula on top of the MCU formula being added.
I've not really enjoyed a Bioware game since ME3 but damn this just sucks…
You know what though, most of the Devs that made our favourite games aren't there anymore.
The attachment to a brand name is insane
N7 Day: The Reapers won Earth is destroyed
I don’t give a fuck. The last time BioWare was relevant was Mass Effect 2. And no one at BioWare are the people who worked there during that game. People gotta wake up and realize these legendary studios are made up of completely different people now. What made them special was the group of people who worked at a specific point in time. Without that group of people the studio is just a hollow name.
I'm so sad.. BioWare… What happened to you…
Anthem, flop, wasn't that great, my only memory is being stuck outside a door whilst my team was fighting inside without me, I stopped playing after like a week.
ME Andromeda, I never played ME, and I remember this being a buggy mess.
DA Veilguard, flop, STANK of live service backpedaling, and provided an experience nobody asked for but we were all forced to like it otherwise you're an ist phobe, regardless of what you actually disliked about it. The activists will start pinning labels because there's representation in it. I completed it, but I'd like to pretend it doesn't exist now.
They deserved to be fired!
Don't breakdance just jailbreak
Many big studios are just a husk of their former selves, former founders and devs. Now they are just money printing machines working on a decaying state…
Well Bioware was dead for over a decade to be honest…
It was inevitable to happen. I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner as much as I'm surprised that they didn't sit it out until the new Mass Effect.
I'm sad not because of what they did with their Amazing IP's but what could have been if they actually made a good game in the last 12 years.
I still can remember how hyped I was for Anthem and they overpromised and underdelivered so much it was insane.
They took the money.
12:04 is in therapy?
jason weasel
That ME4 teaser was released in 2020 and they didn't even have a working demo.
Blacklist every dev from the entire industry
Ppl happy boruto two blue vortex is a GT version respectfully its not real to the main man comes out and actually says so
I think workers from bioware will be safe because other companies will probly get them under their wings, like Larian did , but still Bioware gave me a lot of memories from their games, i was born in 86 and i was growing up with their games. Sad day really, but I think this is how it will be now, our beloved studios owned by greedy companies that can do with them and people what they want in instant.
Eh…Hell is hot, the sky is blue and water is wet.
I don't necessarily mind.
Bioware haven't made a good game since Mass Effect 3. It was highly unlekely they'd be able to make a good game again.
come on. bioware already died long ago
It was just a zombie, bioware was dead long, long ago. It had absolutely nothing in common with bioware that made Baldurs Gate.
Anthem didn’t flop, it sold 5 million copies. The problem is they’d have to turn their studio into a live service studio like Bungie, making Anthem their Destiny 2, which didn’t make sense, so the whole project didn’t make much sense. The game wasn’t good enough for it. But Anthem was their last game that wasn’t a flop.
