  1. 1. The Origins and the Afton/Emily Partnership (1960s–1970s)

    • Fredbear's Family Diner: Founded by William Afton and Henry Emily, featuring springlock animatronic suits (wearable costumes that could double as automated performers via hand cranks).
    • The First Tragedy: Consumed by jealousy and instability, William Afton murders Henry’s young daughter, Charlotte (Charlie) Emily, outside the diner. Charlie's soul possesses the animatronic known as the Puppet (Marionette).

    2. Family Tragedies and the Bite of '83

    • Circus Baby & Elizabeth: William opens Afton Robotics and builds specialized animatronics (like Circus Baby) designed to capture children. William's daughter, Elizabeth Afton, is killed and absorbed by Circus Baby.
    • The Bite of '83: William's younger son (the Crying Child / Evan) is accidentally pushed into Fredbear's mouth by his older brother, Michael Afton, during a birthday prank. The springlock jaws crush his skull, and he dies in the hospital, later fragmenting or possessing Golden Freddy alongside Cassidy.

    3. The Missing Children’s Incident (MCI)

    • Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza: The business rebrands and expands. William Afton dons a Spring Bonnie suit and lures five children into a back room, murdering them and stuffing their bodies inside the animatronic suits:
    • Jeremy → Freddy Fazbear
    • Gabriel → Bonnie
    • Fritz → Foxy
    • Suzie → Chica
    • Cassidy → Golden Freddy (shared with the Crying Child)
    • The Puppet's Role: Charlie (The Puppet) helps awaken and guide the children's souls to possess their respective animatronics. William also discovers Remnant—a glowing essence of life and soul bound to metal from the haunted machinery.

    4. Michael’s Redemption and the Climax (1980s–2020s)

    • The Bite of '87: A later iteration of the pizzeria features advanced animatronics (like Mangle); an incident causes severe frontal lobe damage, forcing another shutdown.
    • Sister Location & Ennard: Michael Afton goes underground to Afton Robotics to find his sister Elizabeth, gets his insides hollowed out by the amalgam animatronic Ennard, and survives as a walking purple corpse ("Mike Schmidt").
    • Springtrap: Cornered by the ghosts of his victims, William Afton hides inside the decaying Spring Bonnie suit. The springlocks fail, crushing him inside, and he becomes Springtrap.
    • The Fire of 2023 / Labyrinth: Henry Emily returns for a final plan, gathering the remaining haunted animatronics, Michael, and Springtrap into a labyrinthine Pizzeria Simulator. He burns the building to the ground, finally releasing the trapped souls and sending William Afton to his fiery end.
(Note: Later story arcs feature digital consciousness, Glitchtrap, and Vanny in the modern Fazbear Entertainment corporate era, though the core tragedy revolves around the Afton and Emily families.)
