I remember making a "playlist" contraption for a minigames world. Man, was I bad at redstone, but it was so worth it.
To make a controllable skip feature, put a minecart on a sloped activator rail below the jukebox, with an air gap inbetween. The air gap means the jukebox doesn't power the activator rail, but the sloped rail still positions the minecart high enough to pull items. You then just need to depower the activator rail for a few ticks. The fun part is then getting the skipped disc back up to the playlist chest reliably and compact

and a hopper minecart ontop of the chest
when u rclick the jukebox the disc pops up right? Above the chest
but it gets collected by the hopper minecraft and put back in the chest.
If this works it might be the most compact one yet

Frost walker boots won't break it?
I'm sure many people have been suggesting this but touching water in the ice caves should give you the freezing effect for long enough to take away a good amount of your health (not just freezing you as you are in the water, as it simulates being soaked with super cold water for some time). This would make the crevasses a lot more impactful since there's water for you to fall into at the bottom.
