That was a euphemism used in the Bible for having sexual relations. For example, Genesis 4:1 states, "Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain."
Not anything I've seen discussed on the explainer channels, but I think it may have been an intentional reference.
Especially since after the mind-link, they both smoked cigarettes. Ok, they didn't do that, but they had a whiskey drink of some kind.

I'm not ready for it to be over. This show is awesome.
I expect some twist with Edith like her past is connected to Ultron.
I also expect the other AI characters to die or to be removed as Vision needs real social interaction. And even if they could get their own bodies then the MCU doesn't need 3-4-5 AI hero.
After episode 7, the show should be called third wheel.
