Let’s meet our hosts!
– Jake Baldino (aka the Before You Buy Guy) is pretty much the most watched reviewer on YouTube across both Gameranx and his personal channel ( If you’re obsessed with Delorians, The Mummy and Pizza you can discuss that stuff with him directly over on Twitter: @JakeBaldino

– Lucy James was a Senior Producer at Gamespot for more than a decade before striking out on her own, founding a newsletter and games discovery platform that serves up cool suggestions (and demo codes) directly to your inbox. She also co-hosts the annual Summer Games Showcase alongside Geoff Keighly.

– Skill Up used to work at McDonalds but he got fired for skimming too many chicken nuggets. He says he regrets it since he hasn’t had a better job since.

  2. 56:46 I disagree about the limitations of Wolverine's design in this game. Wolverine doesn't have the biggest array of powers, but games like the Marvel: Child of Atom and Marvel vs Capcom fighting games managed to give him a very unique moveset. There was nothing preventing Insomniac's Wolverine from having more unique attacks similar to Berserker Barrage, Weapon X or a Tornado Claw.
Hell, even without flashy attacks, just intricate combos like you'd have in PS2 games would make this gameplay so much more dynamic

  3. Im a little confused on Ralph's take on the scent trails. The scent trails would absolutely ruin an experience based on exploration and discovery. This game doesnt seem to be trying to do that at all?

It is trying to get the player from point A to Point B as seamlessly as possible so you can either get back to combat or the story.

I am far more offended by Atreus in GOW or Alloy in Horizon talking immidiately when they see a puzzle solution, since those are about figuring things out in the environment.

  4. How on EARTH is the Wolverine game bad? HOW? Why are so many people treating this game like it's the worst thing since the Bubonic Plague when there are much worse games out there?

  5. The saddest thing about wolverine is that it paints a uncertain future for insominiac.
Big companies havent been taking lightly to failures. Specially in the game industry.
As ok as the game is, the studio dont deserve to cease to exist and I hope the devs will be well.

  6. This isn't the first time that I have heard Ralph mention time limits on reviews. Is that just for how much B Role can be used? Because channels like Kinda Funny or even this video are much longer discussions.

  7. Gene’s summary of his thoughts on Wolverine is basically how I feel about The Last of Us 2.

I actually broadly enjoy it – tho I think its structure is not very good. But the Santa Barbara section is just…awful. Great for slight gameplay evolution, but I just feel utterly miserable and like I wasted my time finished that game, each time, even with years in-between.

  8. this might actually be a fairly common thing but i also failed the platforming at the church in Svartrau and had to kill Xanthe on the spot just like Lucy mentioned. the controls in this game can be pretty janky at times

  9. What babies, I was waiting all my life to get a wolverine game and this being both PS5 exclusive and getting mixed reception is something to be mad about. We may need to wait now 10 years or never get another one. You are to advocate for us to get good games 'ahhh whatever and I like queer coding' is why people are turning away from mainstream
Jurnalists, you should work for us and for betterment of AAA industry that is in shambles today.
