On this channel, you’ll find long-form video essays about gaming’s biggest stories from studio collapses and corporate greed to the creative risks that still push the medium forward. I break down industry trends, publisher decisions, and the economics behind how games are made, marketed, and sold.
Whether it’s GTA 6, Elden Ring, Baldur’s Gate 3, Path of Exile 2, Call of Duty, Battlefield, Pokémon, or the next doomed live-service experiment, I cover how the industry’s biggest names keep shaping and breaking the games we play.
From deep dive analysis on publishers like EA, Bungie, Blizzard, Activision, Ubisoft, Sony, and Microsoft to commentary on indie hits like Palworld and Expedition 33, every video cuts through the marketing to get to what actually matters: how this industry works, who it’s failing, and why players deserve better.

Sweeney crying about Steam policies, cancel culture or whatever, is so weird, Steam just annihilates Epic in regards on how many games are accessible there. It's Sweeney who does the cancelling- he doesn't allow certain game types at all, and he doesn't support chunk of players who choose Linux. But thinking about it, him not supporting Linux is kind of reasonable, they couldn't even maintain Windows launcher properly, how would that small, inexperienced company even support Linux? Also, the AI that he tears his shirts over to protect, are far cosier on Steam than Epic. And more welcome. It's actually funny how hard he fked up with this, if only he would play it in opposite direction, if he capitalised on AI slop flood apocalypse on Steam, he could gain customers. If he would try to create curated, high quality store, he could be on to something. He could carve out comfortable niche where players would really go to see what games to buy. He could turn things around, make Gabe sweat a little. Or maybe a lot. It was his change and he blew it, just to virtue signal to AI bros.
Sweeney is in race in the sense that he bought expensive sneakers, he goes to the gym to spends all time there to make few photos and sit on twitter. Meanwhile, Gabe is on track every day and constantly try to slightly improve himself. Sweeney poured money over problem, but didn't really care to make his launcher even stable and usable. Or even run on Linux. There are much smaller launchers that work far better. Sure, Steam's position is a little worrying, but generally, they never abused their position. Their fee is a little high, and price policy may or may not be sketchy, but for consumers, they always were best place to be. And even with that fee and policy, Steam is still best place for devs to be.
Tim Sweeney has been arguing with the twitter community notes lately, the man is UNWELL
Steam wins by focusing on the customer.
It is as it has ever been.
ngl the 30% steam cut is disgusting. ontop of taxes too. devs getting graped, makes them roto dev more. more slop cus of it literally. so greedy
If it’s so easy to make a better launcher than Steam, why has Epic failed for so long? 😂
– How many years since you launched Epic Games launcher?
– Oh, I was born over 25 years ago, thank you.
What i think is funny is that since they have decided to go the vibe coded route why stop at simply making the launcher faster? Like, they are already using the tool to do all the "hard programming" work but they limit themself to just speeding up the launcher? Why not actually add new stuff, new features, improvements, or anything that would actually make it better? They are already using AI so it would not be harder, but they get so fixated and narrow minded on the most inconsequential stuff, i just do not get it… It is like they cannot see further than their own di*ks.
it's funny to consider that the steam store didn't start off good, Valve did this marvelous thing called listening to their customers and here we are
The copying but making a better product, reminds me of Unrecorded vs Bodycam. Except body's actually came out, and while the initial release was pretty crap and obviously a cash grab, the Devs have turned around and is making it a serious quality product. They are doing it all right after doing it all wrong, and thst is sonething that should be acknowledged.
What's the game after the sponsor spot?
Dw guys I just bought a steam deck, another $900 for lord gabens yacht
The last time I logged in to epic store was like 4y ago, to claim a freebie which I never played 😂
Nope. If buying isnt owning, piracy isnt stealing. As long as these companies keep using drms I have no pity for their plight.
It's kind of odd to "both sides" Ai debate, I guess it's to make yourself seem more nuanced/unbiased but the people who dislike Ai generally come from the standpoint of the association with intellectual theft or environmental impact, not because they want to virtue signal. It's not hatred of a new technology because change is scary – I know a lot of people would be completely fine with Ai if the datasets were ethically created, or if the data centers weren't a health risk to communities they built in. Just because people might be using cellphones that have cobalt mined by children doesn't mean they believe that's good or okay, and it doesn't retroactively make Ai less problematic either. Whataboutism takes are particularly frustrating as they don't benefit the conversation at all. Ai is a technology with a lot of potential, particularly for the betterment of the world, so the fact that it is mostly being used to steal just to further enrich those who could have easily afforded to compensate those being stolen from is part of why people have such strong stances against it.
I hope to one day live in a world where the Ai debate is just a topic of personal preference where people feel it lacks soul because it was made by a machine, and that was truly the only issue. Unfortunately, when its in the news I tend to hear bad things about Ai, and every good thing I hear about it usually comes with the caveat of how it is also bad (Replacing antibiotics with with tailor-made viruses that can attack specific bacteria? Wonderful. Oh, the same technology from that open-source model can be used to tailor-make bioweapon viruses? Right. Of course it can).
Just a bit of an off-putting take to throw into an otherwise enjoyable video.
An enemy of steam is an enemy of mine
The only reason that Valve has the marketshare they have, is because they were doing things right.. Technically you might call it a monopoly but it's a monopoly by consumer choice…
sweeney: "Steam is holding games back!"
also sweeney: exclusivity deals, 1-year release delays on non-epic platforms
people sure do love to tell on themselves
As a business it's not hard how to do things. Make the customers happy, get money. Make the customers unhappy, not get money. Epic does not make customers happy, not get money. Steam does make the customers happy, get money.
A monkey could figure this out
Steam is the only thing stopping the rest of the Industry from destroying player freedom. AI in the worst sense, Ads in games, Etc., Etc. No thank you. Keep on doing what you are doing Valve.
Steam lets me buy games. They let me rate the games. They let me buy skins. They let me sell those skins. They let me upload art. They let me display my art in my profile. There's a lot of things Steam did that the "other guy" can't do or won't do. Been on the platform since I was a kid. Will never leave it. If Steam collapses, I'll find a ship to sail.
If you don't want an AI disclosure on your game, don't use AI.
