Gman, Don't aim with the shotgun. Ever. Imagine a box infront of your character and just barrel stuff the grubs and hipfire. Prioritize movement, getting in, blowing them away, then getting out. Coversliding is important.
I had an Xbox 360 back when this came out and me my brother were hooked instantly. In hindsight with Gears being so good is that so many games came after tried to replicate the magic and ended up making generic gray brown cover shooters that mid at best and terrible at worst.
The glowing liquid is Imulsion, they whole reason for the fight.
Probably the peakest game ever peaked at the peak of videogaming.
Shotgun is great in multiplayer in campaign pretty mediocre

Wasn't it nice when Epic still had developers that actually knew how to use their own engine? UE3 and 4 were peak gaming.
And even though he's a bit of a tool, we also need to fill the entire gaming industry with people like CliffyB again. People who actually have cool ideas for how a game should PLAY, rather than what message it should preach. People who take their game design inspiration from things like paintball and action movies, instead of Tiktok and hormone supplements. People who can paint an entire digital canvas with nothing but the colors grey, brown, and muzzle flash, yet still make it awesome.
17:13 Early in the locust war. The cog decided to use the hammer of dawn on most of the planets major cities. Hoping to slow locust advance and deny them any valuable resources in those cities. But they only gave civilians a few days to evacuate to the safe zone (Jacinto plateau) to prevent the locust from evacuating the surface. So tons of people died before reaching it.
The people who didn't make it to Jacinto but survived the hammer strikes are understandably pretty bitter towards the cog. So they live in those makeshift settlements in the ruins. And outside cog authority.

The Raam fight is super easy to cheese, there's a turret at the front next to the light mass missle that you can run to and as soon as his Kryll are gone, you just let loose, 5 seconds max and he's done.

After watching you talk about Gears of War 1 in depth, I genuinely think that the sequels are better in every way. Can't wait to see you talk about Gears 2 and 3.
Also worth noting I believe the retconned a reason behind besekers which was dark and brutal. Hammer of dawn a failing system with satellites being lost and tagging enemies with grenades
Gears reloaded is better than the ultimate, I've loved the series since 2006. I never got into Killzone it felt heavy and clunky

Tips for the shotgun: It has a sweet spot that can instant gib locust. Its easier to achieve using (hip fire). At medium ranges use ads and target the knees it'll drop them to the downed state fast. And try to load power shots before closing the distance. Enjoy

The original gear of war 1 game have keep the original horror element and environment , the ultimate edition and reload it doesn’t have that horror element and environment in them in my opinion.

Gears was my fav game on the xbox360.
It doesn't look like a basic third person shooter, it is THE third person shooter the rest derive from after that point.
People coming at this point feel like it's the most generic it can be, but it was the trend setter and it deserves recognition.
Gears 2 is even more amazing, and I really liked 3 in a gameplay perspective in the QoL they added, although some people think they did it too fast.

Thank you for mentioning Gears: Redux. It's the way I'm playing it today and it packs in so many features from the later games while also adding in the weapons, enemies, and even game modes from those games if you enable the mutators.
You MUST play gears 2. In a market full of 1.5s, it fucking earns that 2.
I didn't have an Xbox when i was in school so i discovered Gears of War when i went to my friends place and we played the first Gears of War game i think it was 2007 i was in middle school at the time. Been a Gears fan ever since.
Gears of war 3 is a joy to play on Xbox series, 4K/60 , better texture filtering , you can see how good were the assets, it allmost looks a remaster compared to the Xbox 360.
