I've had at least one console or another for every generation starting from the ps1. I feel like this will be the first generation I decide to skip.
-systems too expensive
-current systems aren't struggling to run games
-backlog too big
-dont want no damn handheld
-any "next gen exclusive" game will be back compat with the generation after

Maybe it's cuz im just a casual gamer but it feels like they're overcomplicating everything. We just want good games and we're to play then. Do that and the money will flow.

I just picked up PS4 and 10 games for $160 of FB Marketplace and my 3060 ti is still handling all the new PC games just fine no way will I ever pay $1,000 for a console.

I pay 20€ per month for Geforce now linked to my pc game pass and steam library. I play it on my Fold 7 with an android controller and can play anywhere where I can plug my phone via Dex or cast to my tv. Consoles are cooked

1200-1800 for a console is over 2.5K in other markets. I think they're going to implement a Cell phone type 3-5 year payment plan that includes Game Pass, that we'll need to either i) return the console after those years to upgrade to the next best thing or return it..

I'd buy it at max 700 $, consoles should always be subsidized, as you will be paying monthly for even playing online, which is crazy, and even more for the games, dlcs, etc, tmake it subscription free for online play but price the console at 1,2k, I'd buy it, make online play free again, just like PC, paid online play should have not been a thing in the first place, you are already paying for the internet and most games use P2P and do not even host servers, it is absolutely fucking crazy to be paying to play multiplayer on a game you already bought, please denormalize this or PC gaming will always be getting more users, there won't be hardware or games to sell from Xbox as people will really just use steam, make online multiplayer as it should be, free and included with the price of the game and Sony will be 100% dead, everyone would buy an Xbox next morning and will selling their PS5 and PS4, I am 100 % confident about this as I own a PS5 and a PS4

i think in regards to handhelds you may be a bit bais. you may like handhelds, but I personally have zero interest in a handheld (from that perspective the switch 2 is bad value if no handheld use)

Consoles being too expensive for most people is actually the most old school gaming thing. When people complain they cant get the latest gpu or console. They are usually around 30 or under. Im 40, when I was young, it was normal not to afford the latest console for years. Some kids had them. And i wasnt poor, but was always 1 gen behind.
I'm looking forward to it. No one owes you anything, so if a console that is completely voluntary for you to own is too expensive to buy, then save your money. Am I happy that that prices are the way they are? No. Will I adjust my savings to ensure I can buy whatever it is that I want? Yes. It's not a difficult concept.

Why would one practically announce the next Xbox two and a half years in advance? … because that is exactly what they have already done. They stated that the next Xbox will be a premium device. I don’t know—I think it’s possible that it could arrive as early as Christmas 2027. … We will very likely know more next month.

I have been patiently waiting for Xbox's dedicated handheld. I wasn't expecting it to launch first before the Helix device. But if it's more than $1000? Man that's a tough sell. It has to be better than all of the Asus ROG Ally handhelds that are currently on the market.

I initially held off on getting an Xbox Ally because I couldn't play most of my Xbox games on it, but just picked it up, and it's an amazing device, especially for emulation. It does suck that I can't play all my Xbox games but for what it is still an excellent device and it convinced me to get the actual Xbox handheld when it comes out.
A $1,200 to $1,800 range two years out is less a price and more a weather forecast. If Microsoft has subsidized every Xbox for 25 years, do you think Helix lands at the $1,200 end tied to Game Pass, or does the a la carte split mean the subsidy is finally gone?
I don’t understand why people are getting mad at these companies for the prices of their new consoles. They need to be mad at these AI companies and data center companies that are driving up the prices because they get the priority for the chips and such. Now I’m not excusing Xbox and Sony for the other decisions they’ve made. Not at all. I’m specifically talking about the prices of the new consoles.

1800 dollars no way maybe 699.99usd and 899.99CAD, New console is from AMD and when it comes to AMD they have massive pull with TSMC in Tiwan and TSMC will jump on with the xbox cause its massive money to be made for something new and wanted more then AI itself but many.

A 1200-1800 dollar console sounds like a big fail irregardless of if it's a Playstation or xbox. But a 1200-1800 PC that doubles as an xbox abd gets console level optimization could be a home run
Bro im so happy i went pc back 2023, when i build my own pc with 1279€ with rtx4070, i mean i do have an xbox series s cause i had xbox360games and i bought it with 160€ with 1 year garantee. But now im happy i don't need to buy even steam cause i got my gameing pc.
