We are checking out the full trailer for The Rings of Power Season 3! I’ll get into my thoughts as we see things play out in the season, but for now let’s see what clues we can glean from this new trailer! 👀

Do ppl like that sauron fights a balrog? I thought they never crossed paths
Some clear improvements so far (no Harfoots, yay!) , but also a lot of question marks…the one thing that seems clear (so far) is that Galadriel has not learnt a single lesson and is pretty much back in her Guts (Berserk) mode ..I did hope that we are done with the warrior princess after she put on the white robes, lady of light stuff at the end of Season 2. As ever, we'll wait and see – the production, music, cinematography, vfx etc all look pretty remarkable at least!
Even the dark wizards staff gem is looking rather blue too, I think before in prior seasons it was red? Correct me if I’m wrong
I BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
COOL! 😊Thanks
Another season of money without respect.
Another season of Tolkien's world twisted and mutilated in front of us 😢
The stone/crystal in the dark wizards staff looks blue as well.
Justin will have a FIELD DAY with this! We will never hear the end of it, lolol.
Saving us from having to endure it is admirable sir. You are providing a valued service.
"Morgoths Iron crown", so JD Payne and Patrick McKay are just going to ignore the fact that the crown is still round Morgoth's neck in the timeless void.
At this point, I wouldn't be surprised to see a Mad Titan show up seeking the Silmarils.
"I am inevitable. I have come for the Three Stones of Light to bring balance to the cosmos."
Ridiculous? Yes, much like this show.
This is so jarringly uncritical I can only assume you are now on the Amazon payroll.
We are talking about a show full of non-canonical BS, but Durin’s Bane wasn’t really close in rank to Sauron. A. Sauron had a name and is mentioned several times in The Silmarillion; B. Durin’s Bane fled to beneath the Misty Mountains and was never connected to any First Age battles; C. Durin’s Bane never overtly organized forces to do anything outside the Misty Mountains.
It took 2 seasons, but we have finally arrived at the part of the original story where s*** gets real! I hope the RoP showrunners don't f*** it up.
This should be slocky, but guy exploding might be Sauron's famous fire touch we have never seen in action, how he killed Gil Galad
This is still running?
"It's not a very good day for said person." 😂
I think the need to show the actors face has ruined Sauron a little bit now. Guy did a great job in S1 & S2 but I don't think he needs to be a elf-like form. S1 showed us 5 seconds of fully armoured Sauron and I think that would be better, especially since we'd see him in a fair form again during his time in Númenor.
Cannot wait to see the Balrog's cousin, DLC Blue Smelter Demon.
S3; Sauron changes gender.
What if In fact Gandalf is the other Blue wizard and somehow he dies resurrected and loses memory again somehow 🙂
Some of the creative decisions that have been made in this show have been so dumb that it seems a reasonable to expectation that one day this entire show will be "written off" as another universe à la the comic book world.
Ahhh yes, of course, the Sauron x Galadriel thirst trap continues, just as Tolkien intended and described in the appendix.
TBH, the Balrog-Sauron just looks exactly like what we got in the Fellowship.
omg thank you, I thought I was one of the few who thought shipping of Galadriel and Sauron is a stupid idea. Idk why they need to throw this type of romance lol
A show so bad that you root for the antagonist.
From my perspective, the dynamic between Sauron and Galadriel isn’t meant to be a romance or an involvement of any sort. Instead, it represents how Sauron invades a person's mind until they break. We see Galadriel fighting off that influence, which connects directly to the scene where she refuses the One Ring from Frodo and finally feels she has "passed the test." I know this deviates heavily from canon, but it tries to capture a book concept in a new way—much like how Peter Jackson introduced the physical Eye of Sauron in the films, which was also far from the books
I mean… Sauron does have a “thing” for Galadriel. It’s just that that thing is a murderous desire to possess. He also has that thing for Arda. It’s kinda a problem
I can always count on Matt to call that one "ship" out for what it is: inconceivably stupid. Thank you. Looking forward to everything else. Can't wait for the livestreams, Matt. But boy, I hope you do get some well-deserved rest after your travels.
Way down the path you can see someone else on horseback, in what could be silver armor. I'm going to guess that is Galadriel. 12:37
Thanks for your comments on Galadriel and Sauron. Die Haladriel!
I mean… RoP is a pretty cool fanfic that someone pulled off Tumblr and made a show.
10:52 “there’s something you’re afraid to tell me.” “I didn’t want to tell you I made out with Elrond.”
One thing about this trailer that makes me especially happy is NO HARFOOTS.
Wearing morgoths iron crown? I thought the valar beat it into shackles for morgoth. Am I mistaken?
All criticisms aside, Charlie Vickers always delivers as Sauron and if marketing is to be believed and he’s truly the focus this season, then I have high hopes.
And maybe Sauron got into Khazad-Dum because you and Varking left the door open? Much to think about.
I don't understand why some people hated this series
the show runners want to make their own show but all i see is copy of Peters version with a (wtf is this crap show) touch.
Thank you for awesome video, I can’t do it tho. This series is a joke to me. Leave the greats alone. But again thank you for awesome content! 😎
i did not watch season 2 as i felt they took way to much liberty with tolkiens work. and quite frankly butchered it. should i still watch season 2? what is your oppinion?
Amazon clearly hasn’t listened to the fans. They keep changing Tolkien’s work when there’s absolutely no need to.
Gandalf being in Middle-earth during the forging of the One Ring creates a massive plot hole. In The Fellowship of the Ring, he spends 17 years investigating Bilbo’s ring to establish what it is. If he was around when the One Ring was created, why wouldn’t he already know? Tolkien’s timeline has the wizards arriving in Middle-earth centuries later. (I’m sure they going add something stupid like ohh Gandalf went away or lost his memory)
And how are we supposed to have Nazgûl without the One Ring’s influence? The Nine Men were corrupted over time through their Rings of Power, ultimately becoming the Nazgûl under Sauron’s influence using The One Ring. So we’ve got half Nazgûl that have been corrupted in a matter of a few years just because Sauron had a hand in making their 9 rings.
Then there’s the Blue Wizards. Tolkien gave us very little detail about their journeys into the East, which leaves room for creative storytelling. But turning one of them evil so quickly, and potentially having Gandalf encounter them, raises serious questions. The wizards were hand picked by the Valor to help middle-earth and one of them is able to so quickly turn evil (We’ve already had a corrupt wizard it was half The Lord of The Rings. And even then Sarumans corruption took decades if not of centuries and was because of The One Ring)
There’s a difference between filling in the gaps in Tolkien’s story and changing the story itself. Why can’t they respect the source material while still creating something new? I know Amazon only has the rights to the Appendices of The Return of The King but there’s still enough material to make an awesome show without ruining the timeline.
I am so pumped to see Sauron forging the one ring, the shots look very good…i'm not as opposed to the "something" between Sauron and Galadriel. I don't think the something is a romantic relationship, but I do think there is seduction there, but in the form of power, I think it really highlights how two people can have the same traits or ambitions, but you always have a choice to be good, and I like the exploration!
I really like your channel m8 .. and Im a big big fan. Always looking forward for new videos :). I do get how ur standing on this … and ur mindset… and kudos to u … but i just cant. I gave this show a chance and it let me down … and i just cant have that dose of positivity that u have.
I'm tired, boss
