How To Make CAS Players Cry

The bomber buffs introduced to War Thunder have emboldened CAS players, making them more frustrating to deal with in tank battles. I decided to use a variant of the B-25 bomber with an insane number of .50 cals to give them a taste of their own medicine.

  1. Context or the last two minutes or so, I thought I stopped recording and was playing around to see which BRs had the most CAS planes. Yes, I've recorded so much War Thunder that I've picked up a habit of commentating to no one while playing it.

  2. So you said that bombers are nearly invulnerable to HE damage (Hence being able to go to the airfield and be unbothered about it) Are howitzers affected by that as well? What about top tier SPAA with missiles?

  3. But take a look at something incredible: the Japanese tech tree. It’s a Rank III, premium aircraft—an Indonesian B-26B. JUST LOOK AT THAT ARSENAL! 20 rockets, 4 bombs, and WOW!!! 16 x 12.7mm machine guns—all for 1600 GE.

  4. Yeah been grinding my French planes and have this B-25 was most displeased to find they removed the top turret (you can see where they patched the gun turret position. It limits my gun ship potential.

  5. I wonder how much damage the PBJ with the 75mm CANNON (or is it a howitzer?) can do now? That would be VERY interesting to see with now STRONK bombers and CAS are now.

  6. I don't go after bombers in fighters unless I have at least 30mm cannons. My poor P-38s are struggling to down anything larger than a dive bomber.

As for what the B-25s are for, all the ones in WT are born from field refit experiments. There was a need for hunting Japanese supply ships, and somebody realized the Mitchell was stable at low altitude and had a lot of room in the nose. The refits were effective and all the production models starting with the G were carrying the crazy nose guns stock. Soon they were doing all kinds of ground attack missions over land and sea, sometimes skimming right above the deck. They also had a reputation for being durable, though obviously nowhere near this.

  7. 8:40 the strafer variants of the B-25 were designed for sweeping/suppressing the AA guns of Japanese ships in the pacific.
I would highly recommend looking up Pappy Gunn who MacGyver'd the prototype in theatre.

  8. Day 22 of asking Spookston to play JPz 4-5 with the new APHE round

Also fun fact: Your body has much more viruses than the amount of bacteria and your own cells combined

  9. The B25 gunship was used primarily in the Pacific theater to strafe enemy naval yards. They developed a technique of skipping their bombs across the water into enemy ships. They were also ised for attacking and desteoying enemy airfields wirh planes on the feound. They also would use their cannon to sink ships.

  10. I have not played a single second of this game. But those times where you just face-tanked the airfield flak defenses and killed the taxiing planes anyways made ME want to quit playing. Absolute beast mode.
