  1. I liked Caruana's h6 move in the opening! (The engine didn't hate it either.)
Those "waiting moves" (h6/a6, h3/a3) aren't that bad.
I see why you'd teach a beginner not to go crazy with those moves, but if they're well researched and well timed, it's a good way to explore some less common repertoire.
They set up wing attack moves (g5/b5, g4/b4), prevent pins, set up bishop development squares (Bf4/Bf5), as (h3/h6) creates a retreat square (h2/h7) in case of knight attack on the bishop.
Usually they're good when removing options from your opponent (e.g. h3 controls g4), which is a nice way to strangle them, and force them to be more predictable – definitely part of building an effective repertoire.
There are a lot of lines where they're the best move, you just have to know what you're doing.

  2. You have bin saying ladies and gentlemen since your video called Asian something something I forgot what it's called but you've started off your videos with ladies and gentlemen for 5 YEARS that a commitment man

  3. it really upsets me thinking about how in just a couple of years or so, the top players that i knew when i was just getting into chess aren't going to be at the top anymore. it's something that has made me feel a lot of melancholy thinking about

  4. The Uzbekistan team is insane. I thought Nordibek would be the next challenger, but Sindarov is phenomenal as well. However, Guckesh is capable of brilliant performances as well. It will be an interesting match
