Ethan Winters, while searching for his missing wife, finds himself trapped by the Baker family – a deadly, unstoppable family driven to violence under the influence of a mysterious infection.
BIOHAZARD is a short fan film based on the critically acclaimed video game Resident Evil 7, written, directed, and starring Chandler Riggs (The Walking Dead). The film reunites Riggs with Jason Douglas (The Walking Dead, Preacher, Dragon Ball), who portrays Jack Baker – the patriarch of this twisted family – alongside Mary Rachel Quinn (Outer Banks), Eugenie Bondurant (The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2), Johnathan O’Neil (The Pitt), and newcomer Sam Coyles.
BIOHAZARD began as a passion project driven by a desire to bring the isolated, intense, gripping story of Resident Evil 7 into live-action. The production team spent days transforming Arturo Fuente’s original cigar factory in Tampa Bay into a full-scale section of the Baker estate, creating a practical, immersive environment specifically for the production. The film combines practical production design, practical special effects, practical stunt work, and minimal VFX to recreate the intense, physical horror of the game, while paying homage to the films that inspired it.
The production was also incentivized by Film Tampa Bay to showcase Tampa Bay as a strong, supportive, and experienced home for film productions. Riggs teamed up with Tampa-based production company Spooky Feet Films, helmed by filmmakers Shane Brady and Emily Zercher, marking their third project together. The production was additionally supported by Greg Nicotero, who provided SFX equipment for the production.
This short live-action fan-film adaptation of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard has a running time of 19 minutes.
