I think they will add npc marrying each other. That's what freeing the mermaid fruit means I guess.

I have to wonder if your suggestion of a fourth area could it be Zuzu City? We've been there a small handful of times. And there is definitely a LOT that could be done there if it was added. Or if we'll get something brand new that ends up bigger than Ginger Island… Very exciting.
I also have to wonder what the "Two paths will be extended" hint means as well. Is that referring to Clint and Sandy, or something else entirely? Maybe a change to some of the underused and underloved professions?
I'm going to guess that you'll be able to take the train to Zuzu City. Also, as far as small things go, I think he'll add new recipes that actually involve all the crops (cherries, strawberries, and the seasonal crops you can dig up from the seed spots).

I think either there will be a new area for “Three will become four” OR a new stage for the children! There’s three stages, (sleeping, standing in the crib, and then wandering the house.) I would LOVE for the children to do more
If they do add a new area, ZuZu CIty would be an interesting one, it would also be very different from the other areas of the game. Maybe there would be new stores or a farmstand that you could run in the city and new events to take advantage of.
I love how every time I get to the point where I'm in the mood to boot up either Stardew Valley or Terraria and begin a new save file to experience all the content I've missed over the years, another update seems to be right around the corner.
I still haven't seen 90% of 1.3 and 1.4 for Terraria, and I only just started exploring Stardew Valley 1.5 back in 2024. I have owned both games since they came out, and I've got over 1,000 hours between them.
I hope we finally get the chance to interact with our character's parents in 1.7

I think it might add more functions to the kids! It would run well with Clint and Sandy being spouses imo.
I don't think Clint and Sandy are the only marriage candidates being added. The 10 year retrospective video had a frame with an image that had 4 crystal shoes held up and 1 genie shoe just before announcing the marriage candidates; I think there's going to be 4 marriage candidates added, the crystal shoes [á la Cinderella's glass slipper] are held up by 2 male and 2 female characters, Clint and Sandy we know about, I think there's 2 more villagers you can marry, as for the genie shoe I think that's going to be a second platonic roommate you can invite to live with you instead akin to Krobus, initially I thought the wizard but I'm actually wondering if it will be the dwarf.
I literally felt crazy when I had played stardew right after release then years later told my friend I 100%ed it and they went "oh all of ginger island? That's crazy" I was like what. what is that- what
Can't wait to finally play this game properly for the first time when the update comes out
All I hope for 1.7 is that it stays tonally consistent with 1.0 content. I hate Ginger Island not for any gameplay reason but because it jumps the shark. What I found endearing about Stardew is that it was a sim of a magic picturesque small town life everyone dreams of. Going off on a tropical island adventure and forging enchanted weapons in some sci-fi volcano gizmo is so far removed from what the game promises on day 1 year 1.
It just looks like it belongs in a different game. I think Ape just got bored of Stardew and that's why new stuff is so outlandish.
I think the dinosaur island you see in the cutscene on your way to ginger island will be the new map

as i know from the community, the dev who got hired to update 1.7 is the people who making big and famous mod . no wonder castle village still no update after those years lol. the dev got kidnapped by the original dev.
all i want is a save anywhere button. that's it. that's all.
What if the riddle is just to see what people think it is and just develop based on the most popular guesses?

If we do get Zuzu city, that also feels like the perfect place to add more to the Joja storyline, given that ConcernedApe has mentioned wishing he’d made the decision between Joja and the Community Centre more balanced. It even fits with a common fan theory that ‘two paths will be extended’ is in reference to the Community Centre and Joja storylines
I don't really want Zuzu city as our fourth area, I'd honestly prefer somewhere wild and untamed to explore, maybe a perpetually cold and icy place to contrast with the always warm and sunny island and desert.
While I'm as excited as anyone else what this will mean for new content, there are 2 QoL changes I've been desperately wanting in the game.
– Being able to change your fairy color, instead of having it tied to your player ID made when first starting/joining that farm. I don't care if there's an expensive cost tied to it, I just want some way to do it without editing the save file.
– Dresser sorting is random and awful for everything but rings. Go put all your SC cowboy hats in one, plus all your other misc. finds, and you'll see that the order of everything shuffles when you remove or add any single item. Like items don't even sort together. It's infuriating scrolling through a dresser with all your clothing.
Hmm, 3 will become 4 could also mean something with NPCs. There are I think 3 households that consist of 3 people (Pierre, Caroline and Abigail; Evelyn, George and Alex; Marnie, Jas and Shane). It could be f.e. that Lewis and Marnie would marry. Or Pierre and Caroline could get a child. I can't think about anything that could happen in Alex's house. But I think new main area is more likely (maybe Zuzu City?).
About two other hints – two paths almost definietly mean Community Center and Junimos/Joja choice.
And I think mermaid's fruit means your kids, so they might be growing up and moving out? But then what about Jas, Vincent and Leo, would they grow up as well?
