You would technically be able to find a better icon by just rotating the item.
I thought Jagex doesn't use drawn Icons for weapons.
I believe it's the actual Item, and they rotate it around until it looks good and take a picture of it.
That's also why you can spin Item Icons in your inventory with certain plugins.
So you technically can find a better rotation for the Obligator.

The “pixel art” for the obligator (and every other item) isn’t pixel art. It’s just the actual 3d item from a fixed angle with a black border around it. There’s a whole YouTube video about this by skeldor.
