Great Review. I would say you missed a few small things such as the illuminate being a buggy mess that walk through walls/floors from their launch until now and having barely 10 enemies total for 2 years.
The recent modding thing seems undersold too. That's genuinely get wrenching for me. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed being able to recolour my armour or having stratagem bounce fixed. This anti cheat garbage can go to hell.
at times in this video, you show art for Helldivers 2 when you're talking about Helldivers 2? Or not; honestly, it's very confusing which Helldivers you're talking about at times. You show a review from December 2015, which is for Helldivers 1, next to a picture of Helldivers 2.
The "fall" of Helldivers 2 lands firmly at the feet of an insufferable crybaby community who spends more time farming for drama than actually playing the game. The game is still going strong, its not dying out. If you aren't terminally online and have been convinced to hate on this game, you'll find it's still a blast to play, the content is good, and is worth sinking hundreds of hours into.
Been there from the first week. The game's greatest draw once you got too familiar with the loop is the community driven narrative – the best form of FOMO if FOMO just won't go away. You've been there, done that. Losing Malevolent Creek, retaking it, saving the children in Vernen Wells, collapsing Meridia, dropping into Calypso, Widow's Harbour, deploying into Eagleopolis 4 hours after the first wave, fighting street by street in Equality-on-Sea, York Supreme, and Port Mercy…
I've hung up my cape after testing the supply FRV prototypes, and only just got back a bit during Liberty Day. But fundamentally it's still a nice game to hop on with randoms now and then. And when Super Earth calls, I'd answer
Helldivers 2 is an okay game and one that I will keep picking up and drop over the course of a year. If the Devs talked things through with the community and tried to play their own game more often then I this Helldivers 2 would be one of the best video games ever. Great video nelvox thank you for trying to be as objective as possible.
So AH has been making the same mistakes and dumb decisions since their 1st game and nothing has changed. I cant wait to see what dumb shit they pull with their next game theyre working on.
I just finished an op now. D10, bugs with three randos. We had a fantastic time. There are things I want added and things I want improved, but the game is still great fun to play, in my opinion.
When a developer gets handed success on a silver platter and they keep reaching for the turd on the floor. Wasted Potential 2 – a live disservice game.
devs are like we want the game to be this, players but we want it to be this, so we mod it, what do they do? HHUUUURR DUUURR BUTBUT YOU NEED TO LIKE WHAT IIIIIIII LIIIKE GRUNT FANTASY REEEEEEE YOU ARENT ALLOWED TO HAVE FUUUUNNNN 😂, annoying man children let us mod the game and luck mods to private matches 🙄 they're so dumb
Helldivers defenders like to say “Arrowhead doesn’t owe you anything” but that’s not entirely true the devs might have ownership of their game and its direction yes. But the customer provides revenue and that’s no small thing ultimately the customer is what makes a game successful and that at the very least makes you owe them your ear. A studio that ignores its customers is a studio that looses its customers. And they are doing themselves no favors by only listening to the sycophants.
There is a guy that claims he was a story consultant for the new ME and he “leaked” the story now that it was cancelled… It was horrible, they were going on a tirade that they reversed engineered the reapers and that everyone was part sinthetic now…and yet the universe looked the same, quarians were still stuck on theirsuits, and they thought they were cooking. They genuinely thought they were cooking one of the best games ever. EA couldn’t have killed that BS soon enough
I'm new to the Helldivers 2 universe. Only been playing 2 months. While I do enjoy the game, I am beginning to understand why long time players hate what the Devs have done to it. It really does seem like Arrowhead gets off on pissing off their own player base. Looks like it's time to dust off Cyberpunk.
It's sad to know that we're witnessing the downfall of Helldivers 2. It is one of my favorite games, but Arrowhead has constantly made it worse and worse to the point where I don't want to play it anymore. Hopefully AH can finally wake the hell up and fix their damn game, otherwise this is the end
Nah it fell off because as soon as WE had fun… AH had to ruin it and honestly i think its because they "have a story" according to the devs…. like just let it play out the first war like hd1 and then maybe start doing buff amd nerf… i was tired of grinding and we should have won but its so scripted they make it harder so we lost
I wouldn't say the game is dead or failed. Plenty of errors and issues and mistakes. Clearly longer lived than many live-service games recently released.

This game is still way too fun to stop playing
Should've known the title was clickbait. It's just a mini documentary with no enlightenment of "Why helldivers became its own worst enemy".

Trash team of devs

Oh, Magicka, that explains a lot. Roughly the worst game I've ever bought, such utter garbage I barely made it twenty minutes before I closed it.
And they were never indy studio too it seems
They just don’t want to deal with helldivers anymore so they’re killing it on purpose

should call them arrow foot for how many times they've shot themselves in the foot.
AH smokes their "Grunt Fantasy" and "A Game For Everyone Is A Game For No One" jargon too much, instead of listening to the player base

God there's too many red flags even before the first nerf. 💀💀💀

I wasnt aware the current CEO came from Paradox, that explains a lot of the mismanagement.

Anything to do with Playstation is doomed to failure

Magicka needs the HD2 treatment the game would go crazy
Wait HD2 is dead? Me & my group play almost every night 😂
Game is still great, dunno what crap yall are smoking.
Der Eternal Swede…
The nerfs to us and/or enemy buffs constantly ruin the fun.

EA couldn’t have killed that BS soon enough
The fact that Helldivers was using Gameguard is worrying.
Back when I played Maple Story 25 years ago we used to call that Lameguard Easycrack.

Suprised it wasn’t mentioned how they changed how planet liberation worked so we could never have another malevalon creek again.
no.. Arrowhead is the biggest enemy to helldivers 2
Arrowhead really fucked it up
it is at the point that im even thinking not even EA could do it worse… just take Helldivers from AH.. fire them and give the game to other studio.
