We Tested Every WoW Forever Graphics Setting

WoW Forever’s new lighting, fog and water look gorgeous, but some settings eat your frame rate for barely any visible improvement. We tested them on a high-end PC and a 2020 MacBook Pro to find where you can get frames back, what is worth keeping, and how far you can push render resolution before the blur becomes too much.

  1. Please learn the names of display resolutions properly! 2K is NOT 1440p!
    4K = 3840×2160 = 2160p = Ultra HD or UHD
    2.5K = 2560×1440 = 1440p = Quad HD or QHD (2x 1280 x 2x 720 = 4x 1280×720)
    2K = 1920×1080 = 1080p = Full HD or FHD
    1.3K ? = 1280×720 = 720p = HD
    1K = 960×540 = 540p = quarter HD or qHD (1920×1080 /4)

  2. FOR THE RECORD…ITS NOT ABOUT A KILLER GRAPHICS CARD….ITS ABOUT HAVING A MULTICORE PROCESSOR. WOW IS HARD ON PC'S WITH LOW CORE COUNT. IF YOU WANT MAX GRAPHICS. NOW…I USED TO RUN 5 INSTANCES OF WOW ON A LAPTOP IN 2010 ON LOW SETTINGS. ALL AT ONCE. MULTIBOXING…ON A LAPTOP

  3. I'm playing on a mod range PC.
    An rtx 5060 on a ryzen 7 and 35gb ram.
    I play on native 4k with render set to 85%. I lowered some of the settings down from the highest, to the second highest.

    Since I play on a large TV, my goal are stable 60 fps and I got between 70 and 80. The screen doesn't support 100hz at native 4k but honestly, constant 60fps are more than enough for me.

    I'm satisfied.

  4. Great guide but missed the most important setting, especially with how blurry the new fog can be. /console set ResampleAlwaysSharpen 1 What this does in modern WoW clients is lets you use the sharpening slider in game to adjust it and does it at native resolution. You may find the highest setting a little too sharp so adjust as needed. This is the same high quality sharpening CAS.fx from Reshade and that you can find in an AMD driver. It's like putting glasses on it and makes things much clearer. The variable 0 will turn it off. There is a macro as well to switch and tell you on and off. /run local o = GetCVarBool(“ResampleAlwaysSharpen”); SetCVar(“ResampleAlwaysSharpen”, not o); print(“Macro is now ” .. (o and “off” or “on”))

    Go ahead and try it in Classic Era or TBC or whatever. Should work there as well. With sharpening on Forever simply looks beautiful. Without it gave me a headache. I have seen many complaints about migraines on the forums with the fog so if you know anyone who finds it too blurry please let them know about this tip.

  5. ADD-ONS: 1) TINKER by RXR Adds in the 1000+ HIDDEN console game settings. No need for console commands, just use this. 1,795 total settings.
    2) Lagbuddy by Devspeed–isolates which AddOns are draining resources. (Among other things)
    BTW Remember that you also have a Raid/BG setting so you can set those lower.

  6. 15 fps is unplayable? with my frst PC i had outdoor like 25 and in dungeons and raids (wotlk naxx) 15 fps 😀 you dont know the difference when you never gotten any better haha
