When the announcement was made, my brother was excited, but I wasn't. I told him that it's been five years since Infinite came out and that we've already played through the Halo 1 campaign countless times.

This and many other "modern" games are what happens when you contract pretty much everything to third parties. The contractors have no greater vision of the thing they are making and are from cultures that settle for mediocrity and "just good enough".

One thing i will die on my hill for: The forerunner art-style is exactly what is seen in evolved. Its shiny, its glorious, its always been maintained by the Monitors, constructors, sentinels + even the Huragok. On top of that, their structures were made of smartmatter which literally made them "progammable". This is what forerunner always was supposed to look like. I will not take that credit away from them… not that they had any left.

As a PS5 owner I would have loved MCC way more then Campain unevolved

I 100% completed Halo Campaign Evolved over half a week and I never knew there was a 4th seat on the warthog. Did they take that out or is it such a specific situation that you'd be in the position to have that occur that I just (apparently) opted for the tank or didn't have a 3rd marine at the time? That also wouldn't make sense because the second level I had tons of opportunities for someone to decide they'd apparently fit right in directly in front of (if aiming at enemies behind you), if slightly below, the machine gun turret on the back… yea actually now that I think of it, that's a stupid thing to put in so they probably took it out, probably was a stupid thing to ever think to put in in the first place.

Imagine if MCC got ported to ps5 and had cross play with the other platforms man what a treat that would've been if they wanted to introduce the series to Sony people MCC wouldve been easier to do less money and wayyy better reaction this half ass port is a terrible introduction to halo and makes us halo fans look dumb bc then the PlayStation people just point at it and laugh like this is it??
A spot on analysis proven to be generally accurate and what most of us were thinking.. like they screwed up the remake twice. Nobody was asking for it either. Wtf? No pvp or pve multiplayer boring and it sucked. Terrible scripting of enemies by the devs. Think it was rushed to beat GTA to market as actman commented on its November release.. anyways you got it right buddy. 👍🏼
I stopped playing Halo after Halo 4, and NOT for the reasons you might first assume. I don't absolutely hate that title, and as such I'm not someone who's going to dumpster that game in discussion. Yeah it's gameplay was rough in places and choices for certain things was a little odd, but there was something solid there that could have been worked off of and I actually genuinely loved the story being done between Chief and Cortana during that game. At the time I genuinely teared up a bit at the end, and the final scene I likely never earned but saw later of Chief getting back to earth and taking his helmet off and you don't see his face directly but you see all the scars and him worn down from fighting all the time honestly felt like a great place to end that story. I don't know if picking brand new characters would have been the best choice or just ending the series on a decent note, but Halo 5 instantly pissed me off and I never touched it.
And then I learned they brought back Cortana, which ruins the ending of 4, and then made her the villain in some reach around Marathon attempt and I honestly got genuinely upset and had no interest in ever bothering with Halo ever again. I'm aware Bioware originally had connections to Marathon and they were supposed to be linked, but that link was never nurtured in any good way, and THAT wasn't the way to go imho.
While I no longer really have much interest in competitive multiplayer in much of any game at this point in my life, so I couldn't care less about that, I fully understand why people would be upset at this title. Not only is it a garbage remake which a ton of them have been because they keep altering shit that never should have been altered while not understanding the core important aspects of the game or asking the community what they value with it, so it was going to be garbage regardless. That lack of MP though as you said undervalues the product by giving you less than what you got back in the day or in other versions of this game that exist online to buy still for cheaper price. These dung beetles think they can just throw in shiny shit and everyone is going to flock to it through nostalgia, something that doesn't work all that well with me because I don't get stuck on nostalgia, so it's always weird to me to watch a ton of people get suckered in by it.
Put this series to bed and stop hurting it. I've had to deal with that with Borderlands for so damn long now that it's really disheartening and I'd rather others not have to deal with that.
Honestly? Even with the disastreous Halo 5 Campaign, 343 produced the hell out of that game and really made their own thing out of it, the gameplay was forward thinking and even the lore got interesting, it's just the campaign structure and tacked on co-op that ruined it.
I wish 343 stuck to their guns and kept the reclaimer saga forward instead of making a soft reboot with Infinite.
Infinite, as solid as it's gameplay is, felt like a pandering regression, not like 343 made the game they really wanted to make.
2015 343 and 2025 Halo Studios are not even close…

Fucking Solid report, my act man. I feel your vision and passion. I pray for a rejuvenated Halo experience. I don't even care that it's Activision. Even though I feel that CoD sucks hippopot-o-anus, you can't deny the concurrent player base.
With the retrospect of their plan being Halo 2 & 3 Remakes as well(assuming we didn't know that back then, I forget), it makes total sense they didn't make a Multiplayer, that's WHY they call it 'Campaign Evolved'(also, Campaign Remake sounds like shit, Evolved was at least a clever nod to the name everyone knows).
I'd argue a PS player would give a shit about a Halo Remake, even after all these years, because they never moved from PS to get an Xbox or PC. Most Console players can't afford a second Console and would rather buy more games for the one they already have, or save up for a PC.
I firmly believe the plan was to prove "Yeah, we can make a Halo game" and get enough profit and good will from the 3 Remakes to not only re-earn the trust of fans(so we actually buy them) but also the investors/Xbox/Microsoft, and overall it should've been a safe bet… it was not.
I also think they were trying to get their people used to UE and overall the point of Campaign Evolved was that(granted the quantity of contractors they had makes me struggle to believe that, I feel like leadership might've just been stealing money and minimizing costs every chance they could manage), and H2 would've been more practice + refinement, while H3 would've likely been where they put the most effort, even to the point they might've done Multiplayer there, considering the level of praise people give to H3 multiplayer to this day, I would've been shocked if they didn't have it for that one. And planning on doing 3 Remakes and including multiplayer for the first would've built an expectation for each to have their own, which would be a stupid decision.
You don't need an argument for Halo to have Sprint, Sprint it just blatantly better, but for an argument, Halo: CE levels are fucking HUGE, I've been wanting sprint in there since the first game I played with it after Halo: CE, for that exact reason. And arguing against it is also stupid, because you could turn it off.
Make a video on project reclaimer. That should be an indication of where the future of halo should go
