Hey, I completely respect everyone's opinions here. Ngl, it was really hard to make a decision.
Between legal requirements and constraints forced upon us, regional laws and restreictions we have to respect and filtering thousands of clips, there was a lot to consider.
I wanted to quickly give some extra context behind the decision from our side. No video as we're currently balls deep in Season 02 launch prep.
There was always going to be an element of subjectivity with picking the winner. WARDOGS100k was about encouraging players to share clips they otherwise wouldn't have, while giving us the opportunity to change one player's life as a thank you. We ended up choosing Subzworld's clip. His first submission (clip #1) put him on our radar in our Week 1 community highlights, followed by his incredible Rendezook (clip #21) in Week 2. As impressive as it was, we'd seen Rendezooks before, and there were several similar submissions and variations afterwards.
We wanted the winning clip to have a little bit of everything. Skilful piloting, the cinematic moment of dodging an incoming rocket with flares and a barrel roll, heroically delivering a teammate to the CZ (who survives), then bailing from his Little Bird while accidently sending it towards the enemies firing at him from the tower. He manages to 'headshot' an enemy with his helicopter, whilst successfully parachuting to safety AND rank up to a humble Level 2 pilot. It captured for me the mix of skill and luck colliding with the sandbox of wardogs, totally organically. His vocal reaction and decision to post was the cherry on top. Could another clip have won? Absolutely. There were so many deserving submissions, particularly in the top 20. I get people saying another clip should've won because we had those same discussions internally. It was a long, long debate, and every potential winner had their own pros and cons to win.
On the flip side though, there's something that feels genuinely great about taking a portion of our publisher's marketing budget, usually reserved for paid ads, and instead using it to change the life of a random WARDOGS player. That part is still really cool to us. Subzworld isn't a massive content creator (which is what we were criticized for initially when announcing but that was never the goal, we wanted to make good on that). He's just a dude who likes WARDOGS. We found out after selecting him that he'd actually brought his entire PC to a cheap Airbnb while on holiday with his wife because he didn't want to miss our launch. What a lad.
I want to ask people not to give him specifically shit over the result. You're welcome to disagree with and criticise the decision, but please direct that criticism at me rather than Subzworld. He's just a WARDOGS player whose been having fun playing the game. Seeing his reaction to winning made it all worth it.
This is one is on me (Howard). I don't regret running the competition and we'd genuinely like to do something like this for the community again… but with that said, we've learned alot from this and I think there are parts of the format we got wrong and could improve for sure. We're considering spreading any future prize pool across a few more top winners, rather than placing so much attention and pressure on one individual clip… what do you guys think?

Love wardogs and the team. I hope they keep doing these kind of things, it's super dope. Number 1 wasn't even the best Heli clip, let alone best overall.
