I personally think that the entire game could be solved in the beginning if Makoto just thought "Wait… why does the ultimate fashionista need photoshop? Isn't that… counterintuitive?" and then brought it up.

Y'see, the reason I like Byakuya is because his breakdown in trial four is SO funny. He sucks so much and it makes him a very fun character for me. He's the worst and it's great
Wrt the ending: I feel like the first game leaves off on a goofy but still somewhat buyable note. Not being able to see the outside world allows us to mostly imagine for ourselves what it might look like, and how it might work. The amnesia can be explained away by sci fi, which also explains monokuma, and is generally in line with Danganronpa zero and 2. Of course the non-explanation is grating, but what ended up being canon is worse. danganronpa 3 fucking shits all over it, it's such a bad show, I'm so sorry you had to watch it.
HUGE SPOILERS FOR DANGANRONPA 2
I absolutely hate how they remove accountability/agency from izuru and make the tragedy of hopes peak a killing game. He just stands there and watches. The whole gut punch of danganronpa 2 is knowing that he did something horrible and he chooses to live anyway. Fuck off I pretend that anime isn't real
