Welcome to The Plant Shop. What starts as a simple errand in a plant shop quickly spirals into something much darker.

This indie horror title begins with a standard interaction, but the atmosphere shifts rapidly after a strange encounter. You are not just browsing for plants here; you are witnessing an unsettling narrative unfold.

I am playing through the full gameplay to see exactly what is happening in this shop. The cryptic messages and the sudden turn to an ominous setting make this one of the most bizarre experiences I have played recently.

  1. Did hollow just finish playing MW4 and straight up playing this horror game? Epic!! xDDD i swear i can't do it myself even i love gaming..MW4 would already give me migraine xD

  2. First game I felt like commenting to in ages Hollow. A few things…. First, I loved the game. Genius piece of digital engineering. Secondly, the first part of the game seemed to be finding out if you were worthy to continue the game. Thirdly, you had several paths to choose from. Nice! Lastly, could you have kept the plant eyeballs throughout the game for the end sequence? 🤔 8-10 game score. 😎👍

  3. I love how this game serves as a metaphor for our dreams, goals, and the insecurity that often comes with them. The protagonist's dream was to open a plant shop, but right after she finally achieves it, weird things start happening. As days pass, her self-doubt grows, brilliantly represented by the 'humanoid plants.'

At one point, she starts seeing these plants as 'monsters' that might be hurting people—which totally mirrors that feeling of not being good enough at what we do. It's fascinating how the roots keep spreading throughout the shop, reflecting those doubts and feelings of inadequacy starting to suffocate and take over her dream. Soon, she begins questioning if opening the business was a good idea, and more 'thought-monsters' pop up to reinforce those fears.

Combined with everything else—losing her job, a stalker—she gets completely worn down. Then we reach the ending, where she faces a choice: keep going or let go of her dream. Choosing to stay means feeding the 'mother,' symbolizing the daily sacrifices needed to keep a business alive (money, time, etc.). Letting go means putting that dream to rest and moving on, but she'll always carry that 'what if?' doubt that stays with her forever.
