I think the reason why the movie Cat in the Hat is so uncanny is that he's hanging around with humans so it just looks like he's a weird eldritch horror sort of being by comparison. Like at least with the Grinch he still somewhat looks like he's part of Whoville albeit more green and hairy but still

I don't remember exactly why or what happened but I watched a video and it was saying Mike Myers was basically forced into doing the cat in the hat movie even though he really did not want to do it. Dr Seuss also made some kind creepy weird paintings that he kept hidden/private until like after he died then I believe he said they could be released after he died.
