  1. The reaction to the graphics was completely forced and entirely the result of the "Everything is AI slop" mentality that the social media hive mind is determined to enforce even now.

  2. Arlo: It's so cool that Nintendo is remaking an old game like it's new! I hope it does this more.
    the monkey's paw curls

Disney: Remakes of beloved franchises, you say?

  3. I remember my brother and I pre-ordering the special edition gold cartridge for OoT. It was a very critical memory for me, and I am so glad I got to play it as a kid. I hope a new generation can have as wonderful a time with it as I did when I was 10.

  4. I need that game ASAP !!!!!!! 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵

  5. I really hope the next 3D Mario game is actually a full remake of Super Mario 64, the 64 trinity of Mario, Zelda, Starfox would be complete. And Mario 64 gameplay wise holds up incredibly, but it does show its age hard when it comes to graphics.

  6. Interesting thoughts you have

I see this differently. This remake is still a 1:1 remake.
It‘s not a complete redo. It has been remade with a lot of care.
But if you compare it with the original, you see it is very much the same.

And the implications here are not looking good to me. Other Nintendo remakes will also be the same.
Maybe they should just make their original games available to people and focus on making new games.

  7. I can’t lie, as someone who is excited for this game, I played most of OOT3D a few years ago, I’m still a touch disappointed by this as a remake. My personal reasons as to why OOT doesn’t really age well is that there’s so much empty space. Hyrule Field was impressive for its time but it being so completely barren makes it feel lacking. And I’m also not a fan of many of the game’s dungeons, I find them often quite needlessly annoying and challenging, so I just think it would have been nicer to have a more original remake in my opinion.

  8. It might sound weird but they could maybe remake wind waker with the botw/totk engine 🤷🏻‍♂️ no sailcloth ig but I think it would fit perfectly bc they are both cell shaded. In botw there’s a part of the master sword trials where they have the whole room flooded and there’s heavy wind. It instantly made me think of a modern remake of wind waker when I first played it back when the dlc came out.

  9. I know many are waiting on the next 3D Mario, including me, but a remake of Mario 64 would be fantastic news. So many people struggle with it today and so miss out on what is the most diverse, secret filled, magical and freedom of player expression 'open' 3D Mario game. They could truly create something very special, that will likely become the best 3D Mario made.
Trouble is, Nintendo won't make a new 3D Mario unless they have a new gameplay idea that they can justify a full game. They have said this, they won't make one just for the sake of a new game, it has to be for an idea that will lead to a full game (likely where Banaza came from).
These remakes also serve a purpose for the developers. It's easy to play a game and have an understanding of it, but remaking a game from the ground up gives a deep insight to the structures of the game and all it's nuances. We have a whole new generation of talent at Nintendo and what better way to train them in the art of Nintendo than remaking classic, generation defining games that are in need of it, leading to a deep understanding and future brand new games that can stand toe to toe with the past. It's easy to be dismissive of these remakes, but they will lead to some very special things in the future

  10. I know 7 people in real life that have purchased a Switch 2 in order to play this game. That is some truly generational motion that I don't know if any other game can claim.

  11. Too many comments about Majora’s Mask.

Were you all there for the stretch between OoT 3D and MM 3D? Journalists and online commentators were doing this exact song and dance and Aounuma could barely contain his contempt for the question and even the idea of the project.

The final product showed what that contempt looks like in a final product. He doesn’t understand why we like that game. I think it just needs to live on as it is.

Best case scenario is we get a creative NEW Zelda in this style. That would change the world

  12. I mean Ive been holding onto my current Switch 1 waiting for some game to give me a reason to buy a Switch 2…. I finally found a game that did it.

  13. I think the first company to make a genuinely groundbreaking remake was Capcom with resident evil 2. I don't know why this Zelda remake is being treated as such a huge deal. It's not like this has ever been done before lol. Just because of Nintendo hardly ever god damn does anything doesn't mean they should get praise like they've originated this idea

  14. I think the hard sell here is the cost of entry, I am not getting a switch 2 for this. The perfect version of this game was already done on the 2DS/3DS, that system was the most affordable and portable thing nintendo will likely ever do and it was an incredible way to play both this game and majora's mask in the leadup to Breath of the Wild's launch. Obviously a younger generation has arrived in the decade since then but I don't think they are going to clamoring for a switch 2 just for this game, if a family already has a switch 2 then sure I see this as a holiday buy but I don't think this is going to sell a lot of systems. I am surprised this isn't seen as more of a cynical move given how much we clowned on Bethesda for rolling out skyrim on the Roomba last week. The game looks great, but I am way more curious about the new movie and whether or not the next zelda game is going to be tied to that movie.

  15. I highly doubt they'd go further than OoT or MM. Many other n64 games haven't quite aged as well…granted oot and mm are still a bit dated, but compare that to mario 64 and it's basically night and day. They'd have to do even more drastic work to remake Mario 64.

  16. I'm disappointed that it isn't a new midern game using ocarinas story and setting. Like ff7 remake. It's a beautiful remake sure. But it's still a N64 game. The best yes. But yeah… money is tight right now.

  17. So much posturing for a piss poor hideous second grade copy of a classic. I have yet to hear something truly negative from you, disappointing. This is so bad it is pathetic that it comes from Nintendo, same as Starfox 64 for switch 2, it's the most safe, the most uninspired version of something genius. Nothing good comes from the degradation of legacy. Leave the corpse of N64 era Nintendo alone if they are gonna fart out the gases to see if anything sticks for the people who have no standards

  18. ugh i cant deal with the mas gaslighting from Nintendo fans that this game doesn't look like utter shxte and isn't an insult to the original (don't care if the people who made the original made this one people can change look at Francis Ford Coppola, just cause someone has the sauce when their young doesn't mean they'll have it as an old man)

  19. I don’t understand why anyone was shocked and felt negatively about the graphics for this game. I’ve been playing Zelda my entire life since the NES days and since the Spaceworld 2000 demo even before the Wii U tech demo I’ve been wanting a very realistic Zelda game like this. It being Ocarina of Time of all games is even better because I sincerely doubt Nintendo will ever top it. It’s damn near as perfect of a game as I’ve ever played and I’ve played damn near everything. OOT is one of those extremely rare retro games that I can comfortably play to this day and not really have a problem with it. I even prefer the original over the 3DS remaster. I think Nintendo knows people miss the old school Zelda formula and they’re gonna bring it back with more ground up remakes. Majora’s Mask is pretty obviously gonna be next, it’s basically free money for Nintendo at this point lol.

  20. Hey Alro and Gang! I have to share this, and don't know where to… so HERE it is! FORTY YEARS of playing Legend of Zelda just paid off…! I'm a Custodian at a High School and… TLDR: Marching Band kid threw their Buddy's stuffed animal. It got stuck twenty five feet up in the air in the "O" in our school name in the entry arch. No one knew how we could even begin to get it down… My mind entered the LOZ ZONE… With a LADDER and a twenty foot PVC pipe… I became a real life HERO. : D Only thing that could have made it better would have been if someone had played the "YOU GOT AN ITEM" jingle on their sax as the kid lifted his Snoopy over his head! ; D But one of them legit had an Ocarina of Time instrument! ; D So to all the curmudgeons who say that playing video games are a waste of time… BOOM! … Thank YOU for all of your YEARS of AMAZING WORK, Alro! YOU are the GOAT!!!
