The AYN THOR has some steep competition from… themselves? The Retroid Pocket Duo is slightly cheaper, slightly less powerful, but has some GREAT screens and enough power to play whatever you wanted to play on it anyway.

  1. I don’t have any intention or desire to emulate anything higher than the 3ds. My only real question is, is it possible to stream ps5 with the app, and how stable is it

  2. Honestly if I'm to choose between the Thor and Retroid Pocket Duo, I'll pick the Retroid as it's perfect for what I want, grant it, I'll be able to buy a thor later on but I think the Retroid pocket will be more available than the Thor. That's just my thoughts as both are good in my opinion. Thanks for the video!

  3. I was going to get the Thor but I chose to get the Odin 3 considering I have the dual screen add on for my retroid pocket 6 the Odin 3 is an actual upgrade rather than just a dual screen upgrade

  4. As someone who currently has a Thor and does have some issues with the comfortability for dual stick games. The placement of the left stick is a HUGE downside. But for people who are not me and play more games that utilize the D-pad I could imagine this being a dream come true.

  5. I am immediately suspicious if they're cancelling your order to send you a review unit. I don't think I trust that at all. They could've sent both the review unit and the consumer unit but the fact they didn't even consult you is just weird

  6. i have a thor already. we ordered one of these for my wife and were very excited to get it. we got the ice blue one. really curious what the thor 2 could look like. hopefully it has that bottom screen, it looks incredible.

  7. I will mention that with GammaOS the Duo Lite runs pretty fantastic now for DS and 3DS. Pretty much all of the early issues seem to have been resolved.

  8. Love the appropriate GameCube start-up censoring.

I just wish we had the option to switch the placement of the d-pad and the left stick to what we prefer… somehow.

  9. I have a Thor Max but I think the Duo looks great! Probably the one I'll be recommending to people, unless they specifically want to do switch and some higher tier pc games.

  10. That default DS behavior is very interesting to me. Happens because the top screen is 1920×1080, but the DS screen's closest integer scale from 256×192 is 5x, so 1280×960. So to have it fit the screen, it has to do some non-integer scaling at the end there. I wonder if there's any noticeable blurriness from that non-integer stretching (I'm thinking probably not, but you never know)

  11. D-Pad above is a deal breaker for anybody who wants to maximize their device with pc emulation, ps2, and switch. I don't care to use a device for platformers and retro games, that's what my miyoo mini plus is for.

  12. I have the Thor and as fun as it was to test out the limits it could reach with PC games, I ended up only playing PS2 games on it which it is overkill for. If I had nothing and was looking to buy one today, I'd probably go with the Retroid Duo for that cheaper price tag and Gamecube color scheme. The only thing that could sway me to stay with the Thor is the stick placement, I'd prefer it on top.

  13. Mr. Den you should totally do a video looking at CRT beam simulator in comparison to bfi; the screens on the duo are perfect test subjects for it. CRT beam sim is crazy good and doesn't kill the brightness like bfi does, but I don't see many youtubers talking about it. you can use it in retroarch and armsx2, dunno about other emulators
