Steam Needs to Take This Seriously

A small solo developer managed to get a nice promotion for his game on Steam, and in turn was rewarded by being extorted by some absolute losers.

  1. You know… I haven’t heard of this until now but I have seen a least one other small indie game on Steam with that same review. I wasn’t that interested anyways but it definitely could’ve been swaying early impressions of potential players. Scary

  2. Indie game devs being put through the ringer man, it sucks!!!
This and then the Ai shit for brains de-compiling and cloning indie games to pump full of ads and shit to push out onto mobile.
what a sad time it is for people that make games and love games.

  3. I just realized how abusable Steam's review system is damn. They should remove being able to reward them, this is a little ridiculous

  4. i don't know what life those punks have outside of this extortion racket, but only a minute hearing about this and i feel like the world would be better off without them.

  5. How stupid does they think people are? Do they think steam would really allow an actual cryptominer to be released in a game, Even if there was one released through update bullshit steam wouldve deleted the game page and contacted any actual victims

  6. Australia definitely has some very strong laws around this. I'd highly recommend it be reported to Australian authorities by everyone who wants to do so. It doesn't have to be the victim. They will take it seriously and will find the perps very fast.

  7. I like how people somehow spun this into more Valve glazing even though there's no confirmation that Valve has actually done anything to resolve the issue and Valve has no history of proactively doing anything to prevent this given how these sorts of things are common on Steam.

  8. You made an entire video about bots review bombing steam games. Imagine what'll happen when you find out about what is going on in VALVe's own games where bots are either half or majority of the playerbase cough tf2 cough cs2

  9. Bro. Look in the comments of virtually any social media platform, and 90% of them are bot accounts trying to sway public opinion one way or another. It's out of control.

  10. Why censor their political request in the exposé video though? Surely there is no better way of discouraging others from doing the same than to punish whatever political ideology those clowns support.

  11. If I had a dollar for every time the extortioners or harassers are kids, teens or adults with no sense of self-awareness or common sense thinking their actions won't lead to consequences.

  12. "Mastermind", comes up with the dorkiest plot and then turns up on video-call with "guy who has his mom sponsor his fit", and "Extortionist in a sheet."
They think they look so cool too.

  13. Their plan is stupid anyway. You want the guy you just claimed put a cryptominer on your PC to endorse your politics? You slew the golden goose before it could lay any golden eggs, brother.
