Forever dominated BlizzCon, while The Last Titan barely got a look in. With Blizzard’s new MMO getting the attention and new tech, it’s easy to see why Retail players feel sidelined. But could Forever actually threaten modern WoW? Let’s look at the fear of resources being pulled, Blizzard’s plans beyond The Last Titan, and what running two MMOs could mean for both games.

Bought it, played to 90 and haven't done a single thing since in the latest expansions.
Instead i had a blast doing farewell to arms in my own tempo.
New stuff is shit, that's just the way it is.
Not in a raiding guild so pretty much done with 12.1 for all my toons. My main started out in Vanilla and I am looking forward to a mkII version in Forever.
How do I login to the EU beta server? /s
Eh I only pvp in retail.
Retail: for sweaty 2k rating arenas and pvp in general.
WoW forever: for laid back fun and adventure
Sometimes I feel like playing competitively and other times I want to pull one too many murloc in elwynn. I get bored of one I switch to other.
About time classic gets some investment
They will eventually move over to Forever as the main game since it's their way to "start over".
The way I look at it is that WoW FE is a proof of concept for what is coming next for Retail. it could be the mythical WoW 2.0.
As a brand new player, WoW retail feels like going to Burning Man Festival. Yeah it's cool, but you're constantly surrounded by people who remind you of what the real Burning Man was like back in the day. Wow Forever is like Coachella, and I got tickets front row baby!!
The symbiosis theory is exactly right for me. I have moods. Forever feels great, but so does retail. When the beta came out, it inspired my playing of retail even more, while also trying out the beta.
As someone that loves retail and is also pumped af for WoWF, theres no way Forever replaces retail. The falloff is prob gonna be massive after a month. I might be wrong, but I think SoD was a good indicator of how Forever will go. It was pretty dang popular, but not as popular as Retail. Its just this retail season is total ass. I do think retail needs to drop the stupid ass invasions BS. We need better devs on retail for sure.
The best case scenario is Forever getting really big and them avoiding obvious fck ups. And then after Last Titan merge the game into one, with Forever as core.
I stopped playing Retail because I got tired of the gear treadmill and borrowed power. I got sick of everything in the current expansion getting invalidated the moment the new expansion releases. I much prefer horizontal progression, which WoW Forever said it's going to focus on.
Blizz killed retail themself. FOMO, RMT, M+, not caring about PvP etc.
Ngl I forgot midnight even happened and that I even played it untill I saw the thumbnail.
And good riddance!.. or that what I would like to say, but let's be honest here: Retail will never go away – we aren't that lucky. It's literally became CoD of MMOs after all these years, and just like CoD it's printing Blizzard too much money, so it won't die. At least not in nearest future.
And I truly hope it won't because if that actually happens they will just en-shitify Forever instead to make up for lost profits. Just leave it be like a gamer's version of Zoo or an orphanage: if Retail "players" like it – good, everyone is happy as long as old dudes like me will have their new haven with Forever. And if they themselves will grow out of it Disney-like sparkle and shine, there will be an alternative to try out too. And if all goes smoothly, by that time WoW Forever will develop it's own stories, that people playing Retail have never seen before.
So it's a win-win, is it not?
Dropping Forever during the ugliest, least interesting patch that they've probably ever had was a bad move for the brand. Zero interest at seeing my entire screen covered in glowing green slime for hours at a time
Blizzard is creating a hamster wheel. When forever hits a low point before new content, wotlk anniversary will get going, then probably warlords classic and retail will probably have launch together, then forever will have new content, ect ect. It works corporately, I personally find it exhausting to have so many versions, and it takes away from the investing into a character pull.
World of warcraft fog
Because we are mid season of a filler troll patch and forever is having every detail looked at and talked about because it’s a remake of a beloved title. Not hard to understand
At the beginning of the world soul saga I was hyped, the story beats have all been so good in idea but so literally laughably bad in execution and writing it killed all care I have in it
And honestly the moment that did it was the sylvannas deus ex machina…
I’m cool with her coming back but the writing man… it’s just terrible
Retail players will ruin it on top of the streamers who will undoubtedly try to ruin 'vanilla'/forever
