  1. Castlevania Bloodlines and Shinobi III mentioned! ❤ Two of my favorites that are greatly underappreciated

Personally, I owned both a DS and a Mega Drive (not from USA lol) and I feel like some of the best of DS aren't too replayable? I don't feel the need to replay Ghost Trick, Ace attorney or any Castlevania trying to be SOTN. Especially when you finished the game and it is fresh in your memory

But Rocket Knight? Gunstar Heroes? Contra hard corps? Sonic games? Ristar? Streets of rage?? Heck yeah, I already replay those every weekend lol.

  2. About the Game gear, just a small tidbit:

Yes, most game gear games were downscaled 16 bit games (streets of rage is the perfect example). Mostly ports from master system… But some were veeery different from their 16 bit counterpart. Castle of illusion 8-bit is one example, it's not a downscaled port and it spawned its own 2 sequels with Land of illusion and Legend of illusion. Sonic games also went this route, of course.

There were some GG exclusive games: GG Shinobi, Shining Force, Panzer Dragoon mini. Great games but there isn't too much outside of them

All that considered, I'd pick the GameCube as well. Sadly the GG always makes you feel like you could be playing a master system. Scott was right about the fact that game boy games felt better made for the console (like Castlevania II) while the GG didn't had that advantage.

  3. i had an ouya as a kid! i loved that thing but anyone who was interested in indie games already had a computer and didnt need a 100 dollar plastic cube. i wish i lived in the alternate universe where the ouya was a good idea

  4. What's interesting is that I feel like the Ouya and DS both have a very similar issue in comparison to their competition and that's that they only age bad because they aren't in their heyday anymore. For Ouya that means you just can't do pretty much anything on it if you don't mod it, and for the DS, while you still can play games as they were easily, there's still many aspects that you just can't access anymore, like online features and casual DS Download Play sessions out in the world. It does kinda make it hard to consider the DS. But then I'm like, I'd probably rather play a Spider-Man game on the DS than a Spider-Man game on the Genesis. DS started in that sweet spot between classic game design and modern comforts so there's usually a little more to go back to.

I think I'd also give the Ouya a win over the Virtual Boy just because I love the idea of it so much more and the Virtual Boy games aren't even best played on the Virtual Boy.

  5. The Ouya makes the Virtual Boy look like NES! Because the Ouya is so redundant and it was such an unnecessary console. Also the N Gage looked good on paper, it had some decent mobile games, but the system was poorly designed and the controls were terrible. The PS3 easily wins since Nokia had no experience in video game systems!
