  1. On the scientist papers: As a former chemistry major, we were drilled on the fact that the competition on being the first to publish a new finding is brutal. We even learned the term: Publish or perish. The best way to get grants, is to have published and be used as a reference for other pages. It pushes the credibility of the writer, which in turn makes grant-commitees more likely to give a grant for further research. This also leads to theories being halfbaked and being published, just to be the first.
The academic world sucks in that way, because it promotes being first and not always being thourough.

  2. I think (and I really have no evidence for this) the reason accelerating .01s after the start counter hits 0, you can see the car drop ever so slightly. It's almost as if accelerating during this small drop builds the revs, and then having full contact drops the revs back down slightly lower than it otherwise would if you built the revs/accelerated with full ground contact. Someone let me know if I'm wrong. This is just based on an observation.

  3. Alerts and TTS are mostly just annoying. Most people, while well-intended, aren't funny, interesting or insightful, and having them interrupt the stream isn't exactly cinema.

  4. Just to confirm as a native speaker – it's only the medical profession that don't differentiate between a break and a fracture (IMO). "Normal people" understand the difference between a broken bone and a fractured bone.

  5. Re: Video vs Paper – A published paper undergoes review and is much easier to reference and check the sources on.
You get rigorous writeups of the methodology, rather than listen to a guy talk for an hour and hope you catch everything. In that sense I can see the issue Egyptologists take with HFG's approach

  6. 12:25 this fucking guy lmao. "If you're the person to finally figure out how they were built" WE KNOW! WE'VE KNOWN FOR HUNDREDS OF YEARS! Have you ever heard of a RAMP before? I know you've heard of the handy idea called "slave labour". Makes things quite easy.

There is a REASON that you need to publish things. If you do all of the research yourself independently disconnected from all of the extended resources available to real researchers, then you won't have any way to fact check your own work in a completely unbiased way. Publishing isn't an archaic practice, it's incredibly important to make sure there aren't ridiculously farce theories that SEEM true being passed off as fact by uneducated people – unfortunately like wirtual lol, no offence. Just a fact.

  7. About going back and forth in time, if I'm allowed to bring "The book" going back and doing some Dr.Stone shit would be quite cool. So many scientifical advancements are relatively easy when you know how to do it, the most difficult part was always to conceptualize it in the first place.

  8. If i can add my two cents. Publishing is certainly important so that an idea can be taken seriously. The review process is one of the most important things we have to validate each other. For example, my bachelor's thesis had a mistake, and as a result it has changed a fair few things, but that mistake wasn't spotted by my advisor nor me, but my a reviewer. Publising, as far as i know, can be affordable. You can have a paper that is not open access and sometimes they are free to publish, on some journals.

Also, i quickly looked at norwegian tacos, and i can say that, as a Mexican, they look good. They definitely look better than swedish tacos or tacos in the US. So yeah, didn't expect this, but good work norway with the tacos.

  9. Start trick works because you start a tiny tiny amount above the track and fall, so if you hit accelerate just as you land you get the tiniest speed bost compared to holding it "mid-air".

  10. Sirius is the brightest star in the sky (other than the sun). It's actually 2 stars, but the primary drowns out the secondary because Sirius B is a closely orbiting white dwarf. Sirius A is a blue giant, it's twice as massive as the sun, and 25 times the luminosity, while only being 8.6 lightyears away (very close in interstellar terms). It's not unreasonable for ancients to worship this star, it's the star that stands out the most besides, perhaps, Polaris (which is only unique due to its alignment with Earth's axis of rotation).

  11. The other night I had a dream about pyramids. I genuinely know nothing about pyramids other than the stuff from wirtual took me a little while to put together that I 100% fell asleep to wirtual and my subconscious heard him yapping about pyramids and said yeah thats what we dreaming about

  12. I really appreciate that you've taken a step back to let other streamers grow rather than compete with them. While i don't know if it is by design, it has made me become a a fan of several others. I still end up here in bed though lol.

  13. I would actually really enjoy watching you play ballest of them all. It's a really enjoyable game, bought it myself (last time I bought a game was several years ago)

I would absolutely watch you play it in a heartbeat!
