  1. Even though Ocarina of Time is my favorite game ever, I'm pretty let down. Upgraded graphics and mechanics are cool, but this game seems to still suffer from the same boundaries and restraints as the original instead of pushing into what could have been. Dreaming about what was beyond those forest walls as a kid made me hope for a massive open world with new temples and side quests. Settling for a polish feels like an easy way out.

  2. 12:08 I find it really quite disingenuous to say that you're not "manually fiddling through an awkward pause menu every time you wanna change an item", because that's quite literally what this is.
Since there's only one active item button now, you'll have to open either the regular or the quick menu when you want to switch from, say, the Deku nuts to the bow when previously you could've just had three items equipped at all times so you would have had to open the menu far less often.
And a single-row menu is mathematically guaranteed to be less effective than a grid.
So really, all they really needed to do was to make the grid menu a little smoother and they could've called it a day.
And that's not even going into possible optimizations they could've done (ring menu like TP, item banks, etc.).
This is simply the opposite of a quality of life upgrade and it sours me on the entire release.

  3. This game was so important to me as a kid, I was 8 when it came out and I had to get help on some of the bosses. Which is hilarious if you know the game and some of the bosses in it. It's my most replayed game in by far, and I cannot wait to be able to dive into this and have it look like how I saw it back then. I am very happy its mostly 1:1, and I am looking forward to seeing all of the small changes, and hopefully a master quest or something that hasn't been revealed yet as well.

  4. I’m happy the game isn’t massively long with lots of extra content, there’s so many games releasing recently it’s hard to keep up. Just seeing the game I know looking beautiful with much better controls is enough for me

  5. Enjoyed hearing your thoughts, Jake! I was late to OOT and played it in my middle teens. Windwaker was my first Zelda. Think the HD port will finally end up on Switch or did they make any more comments on that?

Either way, I am planning on playing this with my 6 year old. We played through Mario Odyssey the last couple of years and he is getting pretty good at playing games now.

Sommigen zeggen extreem rechts of iig rechts.
Oprechte vraag, hoe denken jullie erover?

  7. I guess I have the advantage of not having played this game since 2007. Playing it will be almost like playing it for the first time and I like that. I like having forgotten some details but still remember what needs to be done and where to find some of the hidden stuff.

  8. I'm not seeing a side street at 8:34 on the map, unless you mean the back alley. Which was always in the OG game too. That alley are houses enterable at night and for the knight easter egg after Zelda flees but before you get the master sword.

  9. 3ds version is smooth. Still can't wait for this one on switch though. I hate the 64 and any game that has targeting in it. Worst controller setup ever and can't turn of invert…N64 controller is a torture device.

  10. I don’t have an easier way to explain my question than, if you saw the sequelitis video on OoT, but is the combat waiting period where enemies are invulnerable still primarily the same?
