I ike collecting old coins.
I feel this same way about my rock/gem collection! I have tons of rocks gems and fossils that ive personally collected from travels but they would not be as cool to me if i just bought them from a store. Part of the joy is the process of digging around in the dirt looking for cool/ shiny stuff and then trying to identify them later! I will, however, always accept rocks given to me even if it was bought from the store becasue now it has sentimental value.

The one thing I collected years ago that I doubt I could find anymore was part of the original large box earthbound set. they had this scratch-and-sniff "contest" where if you guessed the smell correctly and sent it in, they would send you a prize. I got it right and was sent a pizza scented (pizza was the smell) air freshener. my mom threw it away the next day

I feel you on the "why do I collect things" front. I recently just started a vinyl collection, specifically for Masayoshi Takanaka. He's my favorite artist of all time and though I'm young, this isn't something that I want to forget. I want to be able to look back in 20 years, 40 years, and 60 years and remember how great those moments were. It is also to some extent a "now I'm an adult and have my own money let me spend it on what I want" thing, though I think there's a fair amount of whimsy there too so I feel good about it lmao.

There's nothing wrong with being yourself, the things you like are an important part of your personality. I strive to be more authentic and spotaneous with my own being, I'll keep doing what I love as long as it doesn't damage me or anyone else around.

Regarding a personal collection of your games I agree 100% when I started getting my collection as an adult? With my adult money, I focused on the games from my childhood first. Once I finished that?
