joe i agree that its normal for women in the military to be in positions of power and a lot of the people that mock it have some weird hyper masculinity thing going but it is true that the gaming industry as a whole constantly has been removing the balls from every game. Not every game has to be for everyone I'm sure a lot of the gears players were the avenged sevenfold , mountain dew , big titty , WWE fans in the early days and they feel like the identity they like, the testosterone packed stuff is constantly being brought down in notches for the sake of inclusion and bringing social political issues into games are not gonna go well with the core audience. Asmongold is weird asf but we know why Peanut , Hutch , Mercs were all laughing because its literally FORCED in these games.

I did have a whole other squad help our squad in Horde siege when we were all down thought it was over. That shit was pretty cool ngl
the high budget makes the missing features like chain duals and meat shields, lazy little things like water etc more glarring. At some point we gotta stop letting them off the hook for missing features on games with such long dev time and bugets. The repetive sections of camp with an alright story just makes it even worse. I gave them 1 more chance after gears 4 and 5 just like i did with halo but even if its an alright game im just tired.
Let’s be real, act 3 and after, mags tends to be more focused on the cutscenes while marcus and dom are put in the background. She leads the squad more and always has the answers until Marcus puts his pants on in act 5. The captain is fine I think she’s a cool character but fuck mags. Mags always helps lift the heavy shit which doesn’t make sense when you have Lucas and dom, in solo mags helps save you from the drone in the precinct. I wanted dom and Marcus development not a push for mags tbh. I understand who mags is and why she is the way she is but I think it’s written/played poorly. I think not having tai as a playable squad member is a missed opportunity. I legitimately think dom and Marcus barely got any good moments together that are memorable too, I wished there was more to their development that makes you be like damn that’s a crazy or deep moment that shows a core memory.
$400 million?! It's almost as if they spent EXTRA to make avoid using A.I or monetizing the game.

I like it but I think that for those who might have read the asphos field novel where Carlos died would have been nice juste to feel it like that flashback Marcus got from gears 3 when he dreams about the day he tought to have lost is dad maby not a big part of the game but at least something I think there is where the dropped the ball for me it would have least put more significance to the Carlos death and then go remembrance day
I think Joe not seeing the point of the vast majority of people are tired of the DEI tropes and the expectations of, just wanting to play as a band of brothers in arms
I enjoy your reviews, but this was definitely the most political video I've seen on this channel. The gameplay is pretty fun and there's a lot that this game does well, but on the note of the new characters, I think it's dishonest to claim that the reason people don't like characters like Mags, the Captain, or the Pilot are because "they're badass females in leadership roles". Gears of War, as a series, has always had female characters that serve in the COG and are leaders, but they were solid, well-written characters that people like. The new female characters in E-Day aren't written well and they have terrible dialogue that make them hard to like. It's a strawman argument to disregard people's actual complaints about her writing and dialogue and to instead claim that gamers are just sexist. No one benefits from negative, political characterizations that just needlessly divides gaming communities. I think it's more than fair to criticize poorly written characters, male or female, as well as the overall campaign without having to start a culture war.
They removed chainsaw battles, double chainsaws on an enemy and tagging walls or enemies with grenades…
Maybe it's because I've gotten rid of a ton of trash on my tl, but everyone seems to love all of the characters from end to end. Mags is the only one that's slightly under cooked compared to the rest, which could be that her personality is very generic, which undercuts her backstory, whereas Lucas is a fun companion and has backstory.

Gears is and will ever be my favorite series for campaigns. Even at its worst it’s better than 95% of any cod campaign. It’s just so satisfying. It’s basically the exact game I dreamed of as a kid. Taking cover in a war torn city while throwing ungodly amounts of ammo at hordes of monster aliens with guns. What more could you ask for?

if Mags is supposed to be realistic where are the women like her in current wars? theres multiple going on and we dont see any Mags types, theyd stand out. So she's not even realistic lol
Leave it to AJ to complain about others complaining about a game, meanwhile a lot of his videos are him complaining about games.
I'm enjoying multiplayer and horde, haven't touched the campaign. I have a few things I'd like to see, less dumb friendly bots, when all your squadmates leave in horde seige you're pretty much just done for, they dont even follow you and just stand idle around the map sometimes, and theres no way to join up properly with another exsisting squad if all of your squad leaves a match.
I also think the team balancing in versus is busted, my first game on was against two lvl 90s and two lvl 50+ people, I was lvl 1 and my team was all under lvl 10. I think 2 and 4 man parties should be prioritised to play against each other, but only prioritised, ping is king. Solo people should be prioritised to play against each other applying the ping is king logic.
All that being said im actually really enjoying this one, I skipped gears 5 entirely and didn't like 4, but e-day aside from what seems like two boring side characters, too much ballsack talk and the problems I mentioned with horde and versus, is actually a really fun time.

The funny thing about people complaining about Mags saving marcus in Act 1, is that if you have a 2nd player they can be playing any of the characters and save Marcus in that scene. So whats there really to complain about?
People don't like this game because it's a bait and switch on fans thinking it was gonna be a Dom & Marcus game but we got a Mags game instead,nobody likes her.

Has everyone not realized we are over the virtue signaling and pandering of the gays. Having good female leads and or characters is entirely possible 3 of my top 5 games of all time have female leads, but they aren't just checkmark inserts. Mags is not a good character, just like Taash or whatever from Dragon Age was trash.
If you don’t think mags steals the show in the worst way possible then you truly have not played the game. So many missed opportunities to explore the brotherhood of Dom and Marcus. You say “no one would have cared if it was a man”. That’s exactly the point, these people infest mainly male spaces with political ideology and it’s exhausting. It simply doesn’t fit the theme of gears nor do 20 sexual orientation flag badges. IT DOSENT BELONG IN THIS GAME.
