Finally here after the long wait. Never could’ve foresaw what this would become when I uploaded the layout nearly a decade ago in 2017. This level has impacted my life quite a bit, for better or worse. I’m happy how it has turned out. This would not have been possible with GDNacho, Akunakun, and Sycro, who were the main driving forces behind the level, not to mention all the decorators of course. Hope you find it interesting.

— FAQ —

– Is it actually done now?
Unless something catastrophic happens, it’s essentially done, yes. Technically some playtesting/bugfixing is still ongoing but we don’t expect it to significantly change how the showcase would look. Whatever changes that are made will be minor.

– Why did it take so long?
I’ve spoken on this before if you’ve looked in the right places, but it was a combination of reasons amounting to development hell made worse by an overly optimistic percentage estimation. At the time the 95% preview came out, the level still needed to be polished, and afterwards multiple parts eventually needed to be replaced for a variety of reasons. Fatigue and burnout from hosts and decorators, as well as people being busy with other projects, was also a factor.

– Is this top 1?
Possibly. The gameplay has been reverted to its unnerfed state unlike the 95% preview, although whether or not it would still be considered top 1 with the current state of the game (and the future state of the game whenever it’s verified) is for someone else to determine. It would always be nice and it certainly could be top 1 but it’s not why the level was built. It is not planned to be buffed to be harder than the original layout, with the exception of the decoration already in place.

– I can’t even see anything, hasn’t this been made into a memory level?
That will be up to the verifiers to determine, but if you are able to learn the gameplay by heart I don’t suspect it to be as difficult to memorize as it is in dedicated memory levels, although still naturally harder than the layout by some degree obviously.

– This should’ve been kept as a layout, why was this even decorated?
The original layout was never intended to be a final version, as is the same for every layout I have made, just gameplay that theoretically could be decorated. Exasperation ended up getting decorated, technically the second layout of mine to become a full level after Woh Broh. The layout has always properly been just Exasperation Layout, and now finally actual Exasperation exists.

– I saw a different decorated version somewhere, what about that?
This is the only officially sanctioned Exasperation project, and no other fits closer to my vision. Other versions should not be considered official. The layout is also not decorated and should not be considered the definitive version of the level.

– Who’s verifying it? Is it open verification?
It is not an open verification. We have chosen a selection of players who may attempt simultaneously. Subject to change, but potential verifiers at this time include: @agonom @HoverGD, @NickwoYT, @seregiusz, @spookkd

The song is iconic and interesting, I would define it as an avant-garde progressive electronic sound collage. You may simply need to expand your music taste.
