This literally what billionaires are doing. Building bunkers. Why is this is actually OUR problem? Because they know there will be some great upheaval that will require them to go under. Think about it. Our world is overpopulated. The requirement to feed all 8 billion of us requires an enormous amount of energy, namely oil. This “little” Iran disruption hasn’t even run its course as far as world wide effect, and the short answer is if countries (like Japan and Australia that get close to 90% of their energy through the Persian Gulf get cut off for long enough it’s game over for them as a civilization. Countries still have oil reserves to blunt the full force, but they are running out.
Then look at our economic system. Based on capitalism. Capitalism only works if the pie gets bigger, meaning an ever growing population (the base of the pyramid). More people means more energy required. Which means our most necessary resource oil. Based on current rates of consumption (and simply google this and see for yourself) the world as 50-57 years of oil at current consumption rates. 1 barrel of oil is the equivalent of an average man working non stop… we’re talking 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for 4.5-5 years. Again, google, don’t just “trust me bro” on this. Are you seeing how this will end? We haven’t even talked about the green house effect and how that will disrupt the world, the ice melting alone is going to flood coastal homes. But the climate being much hotter will even more critically will affect the food chain from the most basic life which will effect all animals up the chain, including the ones we consume on a regular basis, making food scarce. At the very least there probably would not be enough food supply to support 8 billion people. And in any event, without oil 57 years from now, it would be impossible to transport the food to the world as a whole. Something has to give. That something is you and me. What a bunker is, is a life raft. If you cut off the current level of food distribution all at once in 3 days the food from supermarkets would be gone. People begin to starve. That starvation would cause the veneer of civility to fall. And once that mask has fallen you would have city folk forming gangs, fanning out to farm land in search of the only food they know in theory is still there. It would be the law of the jungle, people with less empathy would become the norm in a dog eat dog world. It would be brutish, nasty, barbaric. This would cull humanity on a scale unprecedented. Your best chance of survival is that life raft, in this case, a bunker. You stock up, 2-10 years. Weather the storm. When the dust settles you emerge, presumably in good health, well armed, and with enough bunkered individuals that are in alignment with you that you’re able to start rebuilding society as you saw fit. As a billionaire there is no guarantee of course that you would make it, as if the world ends what does being a billionaire even mean if money is worth nothing? You presumably hired people able to grow food down there, or at least know how to grow food when you come up. You must have hired the best as far as security, well versed in the use of guns and tactics. What’s preventing those skills to be turned against you in the form of a coup? You only build bunkers if you feel there is a credible threat of the end of the world, or at least an end to the world as anyone living in mainstream society in the year 2026.
