The minecraft videos are some of my favourite, they always do a good job of being creepy despite looking so not creepy
But I also love that these horror mods never really have much of a goal or destination, yet you always find something interesting

Dread Reborn is an amazing modpack, I'm glad you got around to playing it! I would love to see you come back to this at a future date.
Tips for the future if you do return:
– Bullets are relatively hard to craft, but they're valuable in certain conditions. Conserve as much as you can.
– Beware the Snow/Rain. It's the mod's name (Beware The Rain), and it's where Vapor and those crawling skulls come from. Whenever it snows/rains these monsters will spawn, either stay inside or make sure you're ready to fight at a moment's notice.
– If you lose where you are easily, you can always place landmarks of any kind, since it's way harder to see through the fog.
– Deep caverns/caves are extremely dangerous, as that is where a dangerous monster lurks. If you can, stick to handmade mines or surface caves.
That's all I have right now, but there are also the basics like make sure you're always prepped before leaving (Food, Water, Ammunition, etc)

by the way vapor is the one that causes the spider skulls so you can blame him i think.

if you ever play something else with guns again try to get iron, copper and gunpowder as quick as possible to make new guns and ammo you can search for the gun workbench recipe on the right side of your inventory!

okay now you have to play either Evil hunter, broken script 2.0, or any of those type of mods with clearer path / goal / final boss / area / etc.
I am actually familiar with a few of the horror mods and can explain how they work.
Man from the fog (yes that is his full name) is the one that whistles. The whistle is ment to be a telling sign he is about to attack. There used and potentially still is a way to prevent him from attacking when he whistles. UNFORTUNATELY he has recieved several updates that change the main mechanic of preventing his attack. He originally used to attack when you looked at him after whistling. However that was to easy so he was changed to make you need to look at him when he whistled in order to prevent him from attacking. But now it is up in the air. I really do not know because a streamer once tried to find out and wether or not he looked at it the thing still attacked. My advice would be if you hear the whistle burry yourself in stone. Then just wait out the ambience or screaming. You got lucky because his time was up right before he killed you.
The one you got attacked by more is the Midnight Lurker. Fortunately he has not had a confusing update history. But he is pretty random. He is the one that creates eye particle effects and has the weird woosh sound. There are these shadow portal things that are basically spooky landmines. When you get close it will disapear and do one of 3 thing. It can do nothing, jumpscare you, or summon hands to chase you but the hands are not hard to get rid of just hit them with a sword till they get to a 3rd of their hp then they flee. The main guy however mostly stalks you but can eventually ducide to attack. I think the portals increase the likelihood he attacks. He is immune to projectiles and can only be hurt with melee. When you hit him he will get stunned and play a short animation before chasing again. When he plays the animation he is invincable and will be invincable for around 2-3 seconds after the animation so use that time to make distance so you can wait out the timer and hit him again and repeat. That or baracade yourself. He will retreat if he gets low enough or the timer runs out but you are better off waiting out the timer.
Recommend to play below the skybox mod next

Hey Ryan, There is another really cool "Liminal" mod for minecraft, as there are realms that will cut through the floor and you can go to, and most of them are really highly detailed, give it a try!
Its called "Under Ours"
