Can someone explain why shortstop slowing thing would be a bad thing? Natasha have the same thing, (maybe) stoping people from runaway or charging in them
I'm a sniper main so I can aim. It's decent when you can land all your shots but it's outclassed in damage output by stock. It's only better when it comes to range but if you're fighting at range then you aren't playing scout correctly. The ttk is lighting fast when you're fighting light classes but immediately jumps up against classes with more health.

There's also a russian traumatic pistol called "Osa", which is too visually close.
It always bothered me how the Shortstop uses the same third person reload animation as the pistol
The Shortstop feels like Sysiphus, constantly going from good to mediocre, and it's always ONE buff away from standing toe to toe with the rest of scouts Primaries

Watch out, now solarlight is gonna make a twitter post about how theres nothing wrong with Shortstop, comp never influenced weapon changes, comp isn't responsible for Valve's focus on appeasing them, its all Valve's fault. Yet comp players should be listened to and taken seriously in game balance, they give good feedback and directions for game, and Shortstop is secretly good and its just low skill players who don't know how to use it.

Thinking about this, does TF2 feel like an RPG to you? Items with arbitrary magical effects?
I like Black Box, but what sense does it's healing make? If you throw a slipper at somebody in real life, you don't feel +20HP. Are Black Box's rockers coated in Leech Seed? Or are they full of patriotic spirit? Why then isn't it the Liberty Launcher that heals you?
When I saw TF2 Classified, I noticed the reduced amount of weapons, and those that did make the cut are like Flaregun – instinctively understandable. I haven't seen all of TF2C's weapons yet, but do you think that is their design principle? Weapons whose characteristics are understood not from reading multicolored text, but from firing them and having them fired upon you?

This weapon actually got me into scout but after trying so hard to make it work, I gave up and decided to use his other primaries instead but I always like how it changed up his play style compared to his other unlocks where they try to enhance one of his abilities. I just wish it actually worked! This was around 2021 or 2022 so I've only played with the ass version of it but the lost potential of it pisses me off so much more then every other fall from grace weapons in TF2.

As a Pyro player the shove makes perfect sense to me. Old Puff n' Sting used to be the easiest thing in the world with the fixed airblast knockback. You just learned the trajectory, practice the combo, and boom easy damage.
What's the shortstop if not a weapon that requires a setup to deal big damage? Not so different from the flaregun in that respect. Sadly, the shove is no airblast. It is only a shove.
I am and have been for 15 years willing to die on the hill that we got the wrong Polycount Scout set, and the Shortstop is simply reaping the karma thereof. The runner-up set with the Backwards Ballcap and the nifty bicycle Scattergun was better.
