Also the transistor was discovered by coincidence I believe it took them a few years in order to be able to repeat finding the thing that lead to the transistor again
Hearing about all these space missions and plans for even reach mars, it is SO depressing to learn none of this would ever happen because of the great war. Just a few more thing that would never come to pass, simply because of the egos of two countries, and the never ending pursuit for profit.
The fact this could happen in our world is even more depressing….
Story time: Ive worked at my current employer for 5.5 years. We occationally tell eachother movies to watch and i learned he is a tiny of a gamer. We would talk about this or that movie to 'break the ice' and then go on to work stuff. Sometimes I would sprinkle in a quick question about fallout, after that. I was playing some oxhorn while working on a subdivision design(classical-era elevator music is the main-stay) and my boss stopped in. Lo' and behold, I created another fallout fan as he recognized the words 'Rivet City' in a video playing in the background of our work talk.
It was a slow process as he is a real busy guy, but the advent of the show really got it over the finish line(i kept asking him every few months about the fallout show).
About a month ago, we were going over some work and he goes "So liberty prime died, I was so upset [the wife] came in and asked if I was OK." I learned at that moment that he actually bought Fallout 3 and played it and had dlc. I'll have to sneak in a few New Vegas references or connections to 3 and have him get that as well.
