Thanks for watching!

On this channel, you’ll find long-form video essays about gaming’s biggest stories from studio collapses and corporate greed to the creative risks that still push the medium forward. I break down industry trends, publisher decisions, and the economics behind how games are made, marketed, and sold.

Whether it’s GTA 6, Elden Ring, Baldur’s Gate 3, Path of Exile 2, Call of Duty, Battlefield, Pokémon, or the next doomed live-service experiment, I cover how the industry’s biggest names keep shaping and breaking the games we play.

From deep dive analysis on publishers like EA, Bungie, Blizzard, Activision, Ubisoft, Sony, and Microsoft to commentary on indie hits like Palworld and Expedition 33, every video cuts through the marketing to get to what actually matters: how this industry works, who it’s failing, and why players deserve better.

  1. I fear that they wont learn the lesson.
Neither will Sucker Punch (layoffs today) or Microsoft (buyouts offered to 25% of their workforce) or Sony, or anyone else.
I think its over. If GTA6 doesn't sell 30 million copies (it wont) the whole thing is going to collapse.
When that happens RAM cost will plummet and so will will the value of Nvidia and AI.
Video Gaming is the world's largest entertainment segment. Its crash is going to set off a depression.

  2. I'm one of those people saying "you should have turned up for Veilguard" because I think its funny. they are celebrating 200,000 signatures when 1.5 mil SALES was not enough to save the studio. How is 200,000 signatures tied to zero money going to change EA's mind?

I loved MEA. and I would be pissed bioware was closing if that trailer showed Ryder and the crew. It didn't. It showed we were abandoning Andromeda for a new time line in the milky way and a new protagonist. Yup…. do not want that. I'd rather have had Ryder and the crew. So no… seeing that trailer made me happy we're NOT getting another game.

  3. Blaming ea for bioware not doing there job is like a blaming a parent because there kid didnt do there homework. You are either an adult with a job or your not. Nobody has to babysit me all day for me to do my job

  4. I sometimes wonder how much damage that old study about male/female gamer numbers has done to modern studios.
It "found" that gamers were almost 50% women, but the study counted playing Candy Crush or Farmville for two hours a week as "gaming".
When you look at the breakdown of male vs female by genre, it reads exactly as you think it would and it seems like almost every AAA developer failed to do that.

  5. I want to save mass effect, not bioware. Someone else giving it a go I am more than happy with, I just don't know who would be a good candidate. Larian sounds great but I am also happy seeing them do their own thing. We'll see what happens I guess.

  6. As much as I wanted a new Mass Effect, I was surprised it took this long for EA to close BioWare.

I mourn the shuttering of Visceral more at this point. Even if Motive made an excellent Dead Space game, it's a shame we'll never really get Dead Space 4 or Dante's Inferno 2.

  7. Meanwhile… former EA Exec Patrick Soderlund is in the east and is gutting new companies like Yostar.
Yes, woke destroys games but we need to put a spotlight on these terribly out of touch incompetent nepos that are actively destroying companies then are moving from one ruined company to another.

  8. I see my old man yelling at clouds method has started to revive some old memories I'm not taking soul credit here I'm just saying I seem to have this effect no matter where I go and I liked it it helps I know I can be a bit of a dick but no I really don't think that BioWare is salvageable unfortunately it is the best example of what to look at because well Ubisoft started down the same path and never recovered and now look at them you might as well put it down while it's limping I suppose and yes I will not so proudly admit that I was one of the people thinking that Ubisoft might be able to turn it around it was my understanding of letting legacy die it literally does those no good they have plans to do games from franchises I love and with the way they are still currently handling everything it's never going to end lol and I realize that with the assassin's Creed Black flag remastered like yeah it looks good and stuff but like they're still up to the same old shit kind of like EA with Apex I swear it's going to get good guys it's good guys I swear this is fun lol until it kneecaps them at top of the scrot levels lol no I think it's a mercy I think not watching what EA does best and milk something until it dies and we all absolutely fucking hate it is probably the best course because we all basically hate BioWare at this point or at least anybody who doesn't have their head firmly planted up their own ass lol😅 I fucking love it here

  9. i had john as a teacher, i got to hear a good chunk of the shinanigans that happend with his time a bioware. my plans are definintely influenced on a good amount of the stuff ive talked with him about. one of the things i heard several times is how bioware should of closed a long time ago because of how a lot of the bullshit was being.

  10. I agree that we should celebrate the crash of corrupted studios; since we are not celebrating our old friends dying off. We are celebrating their defiled and zombified corpses finally being put to rest.

The ALPHABET+ activists that were used in the latest failed cultural experiment were partially to blame, but they were not the ones that did the initial hiring. They were a blunt instrument used by shareholders trying to scry for the elusive "modern audience". Now that they have failed, they are being purged off. I don't think anyone is necessarily celebrating that – it's just collateral damage. They're just this decade's "Poochy the Dog".

The game crash is already here, so we should all be prepared to work on those Steam backlogs until all the penthouse boomers in their Herman Miller office chairs finally conclude "Huh.. I guess the kids don't like this now,"

We can get this band-aid ripped off much faster if we just skip anything (beloved franchise or not) that has this committee-think stank on it. Studios can only hide stats from investors for so long. A dry year or two will put a stop to it. We have a lifetime of glorious gaming history to enjoy in the meantime.

  11. Holy moly! It may be your best video yet, definitely my favorite 👌 soooo many thoughts in my head. Had to share with my brother because we both grew up on different Bioware games. I totally forgot they did Neverwinter Knights! Good times, I loved my time with that game. I went back and played some on Steam but it didnt have the same magic as the memory of putting those disks in and loading it up. Thank you so much for bring back such good memories 💪

  12. industry needs to burn. im celebrating the game is cancelled because i know what kind of people were working at that studio, its the same kind of terrible people that caused all those other studios to fall. funny how its all happening after that Saudi deal, seems like all that money is speaking

  13. Yep. Bioware DIED YEARS AGO. What we see now is a gathering of woke spoiled mental screw-ups that replace the original solid crew. Blame EA for allowing the rot.

  14. Oh that's interesting, I had no idea they bankrupted themselves on Dragon Age Origins. Reminds me of a video I just watched about Don Bluth – made amazing animations, but spent too much money in the process and wasn't able to remain sustainable.

Spiderweb Software and Alexis Kennedy from Weather Factory have both given talks about the important of keeping costs down as an indie, and their strategies to do so. Hearing this about Bioware kinda drives those ideas home

  15. You nailed it. There was nothing left to save. I keep being puzzled by all the literal crying. Do these people not realize the studio was down to 50 employees? And a game in “early development” isn’t going to look anything like the final product, so all the tears over the supposed trailer is even weirder.

  16. When someone make the greatest hamburger, you love every taste of it, then after a while it turn into mcdonald for the same expensive prices also the meatless vegan. Do you save it?
