I bought a moto razr in 2024. It was awesome, for 3 weeks. Then it shit the bed. I thought it was me, but it turns out most people I met with a flip phone, either broke it, repaired it or had visible damage, within 3 months. I'm good.

Folding phones aren't the problem. Apple's product is. Samsung and other brands have had actually very durable foldables for years now.

Yes, you do need to be VERY CAREFUL with these kinds of phones since they're basically made with a built-in Achilles heel. But you know who needs to be even more careful? The manufacturers. Which Apple clearly wasn't with this phone.

1:31 not defending Apple here, but you, and the people replying to that comment, are misunderstanding what they said. The inner screen comes with a matte film on top of the screen, that hides glare and makes the crease less noticeable. This film is not made to be removable. It is not your typical screen protector, it is stuck on there pretty strongly because it’s meant to be a part of the screen. However, some people have been peeling it off because they prefer the screen without it (I don’t blame them, matte screens suck).
The comment is pointing out the fact that the OP has done this. In this particular instance you can’t really complain about the screen having broken when you intentionally ripped a layer off of it. They aren’t saying the line is glare, they are saying that the non-removable anti glare film has been removed
I‘m an apple fanboy but mainly for the reason that apple is kinda like it‘s own protected bubble. You don‘t have as much third parties in your usual system than on an android phone.

As much as I hate apple, it had one main advantage: of you are willing to pay for their overpriced product, it will be good. Not insanely good, but still it will be slid and would last for quite a while if you won't switch to a new model just because.

The reddit takes are cringe, but to be fair, Samsung’s first generation foldable was also a total disaster. It’s just a folding phone thing in general: lots of moving parts and a bendy screen make it easy to fuck up, both at the factory and by the user.
Folding phones haven’t yet had to deal with the nightmare of apple users.
