HESH in War Thunder is not very good, especially when it’s fired from a subsonic mortar. The Centurion Mk5 AVRE engineering tank has good armor and come sometimes hit some insane shots, but it’s very unforgiving.

The Strv-103-0's Hesh is surprisingly good, the only downside I've found is that it does no damage to barrels whatsoever
My fav HESH is the 90mm Cockerill rounds used by the C13 and Fiat AUBL/74
Fast flankers and decent reload and velocity, instead of trying to needle tanks to death with HEAT you can just smack them near their ammo or from some crazy like 79° angle and they will get nuked
That 1000 meter shot had enough hang time to make and eat lunch first 😆
I used the AVRE to destroy tanks that were below the edge of the hill. They couldn't fire a direct shot at me. I saw them, but they didn't see me

There's something very satisfying about hitting targets with low-velocity derp mortars, especially the more you have to arc the shot or nailing a moving target. Unfortunately the HESH curse means the Centy AVRE isn't as rewarding as it should be.
